• Jun29-2011--Pakistan tells US and afghanistan to end their one sided blame syndrome...u cannot get any cooperation from pakistan on issues that contravene our own sovreignity and who we are friendly with...everybody cant be friendly with the US given its attitudes...the views of the US ambassador to afghanistan show that anti pakistanism is a basic attitude amongst US diplomats and military..if they only want us to suffer than they should focus on areas under their control and not trouble us...when forces from afghanistan attack us nobody is around but they quickly find anti US militants for their drones to attack...Obama should appoint a conciliatory person rather than send in one animosity prone person after another..we dont go and attack people in teh US and india who issue statements against pakistan...?
  
• Jun29-2011--The dawn says that almost 1200 settlers in balochistan have been killed since teh 2008 elections mostly small service providers and later also teachers and doctors....these have been mostly punjabi with a few mohajirs and some from hindko areas...pukhtuns who are the other major ethnic group in the area have not suffered...this has led to widespread migration from balochistan which could be 20000 or even higher...pukhtun and baloch areas are now very distinct...punjabis now only work in security provided government projects...that this has occurred mostly in a PPP led government shows the apathy and nature of the zardari regime..according to the PPP information minister the situation in balochistan had improved due to provincial autonomy forgetting the large scale killing of punjabis and hazara's...?pukhtuns and punjabis no longer live in any baloch areas sch as quettas dreaded sariab road where even professors talking to students have been shot dead...others say that there have been the 170 odd bodies of baloch who apparently were killed for participating in the violent movement...some punjabis are returning as this year the violence has decreased..earlier the punjabis had been forced out in the government of attaullah mengal in the seventies but came back with changes and attitudes of those in government...now probably enough baloch with working abilities exist and probably apart from those whose livelihoods were in balochistan the rest would probably settle eleswhere...
  
• Jun28-2011--PPP says that this is the seventh time that the mqm has performed this routine of quitting the coalition...others say that the mqm was fooled by shabaz and the PPP to think that they had some popularity in AJK and punjab...altafs homilies are meaningless shown his past record in literally all sort of governments...the results supposedly indicated that in 29 AJK constituencies the mqm got no vote at all...the PPP with the PMlq in the bag now seems least worried...others say that this happens whenever altaf hussain runs out of money or ideas.....governor sindh has resigned and many say that new names for chief minister also being considered...murad shah and zulfikar mirza being considered for chief minister and Nd khan for governor...The mqm has been a useless part of the coalition as it has been unable to ensure peace despite getting everything that it asked for...most PPP coalition partners have been unable to play any major role as the PPP literally kicks the people in teh butt...the ANP , PMln and the PPP have opted for their political manifestos and nobody has cared about the sufferings of the people...for example the ANP sold out for the nwfp name change and more royalties...the pmln got their control of the SC and army strengthened...and the PPP got its changes that the sindh PPP wanted......The sindh governor who looks as if he has just gotten up from bed most of the times has been unable to play a sindh wide role and has at best been a mediator in every dispute that teh mqm kicks up...the mqm has still to normalize the situation in hyderabad and the sindh government has yet to start processing the cases against the mqm...In karachi the norm from all sides seems tobe direct violence which usually results in blood letting every few weeks...The government according to our information has not picked up any of the mqm killers...many say the PPP is unable to implement any sort of vision and is happy at being embroiled or distracted by political issues...all political parties PMLn, mqm and PPP say that the AJK elections have been rigged...others say that further rigging is being attempted and the mqm asking for the seats whose results have not been declared...
  
• Jun27-2011--dawn says insurgency violence in balochistan has been muted amongst teh other conflicts that plague the province...the sardar/tribal conflicts alongwith the sectarian conflicts as well as the anti nato and taleban tensions...with balochistan divided amongst the baloch,pakhtun and coastal belts...the liberation insurgency has divided but not gained popularity...areas of baloch tension such as teh sariab road still see killings of teachers, religious figures and hazaras in teh sectarian conflict...mastung they say also sees such tensions...the political tensions in the power, and gas domains and electricity shortages also cause tensions...government should allow balochistan to use its gas for power production or purchase as much power and fuel from iran that it can afford...

• June22-2011--In a daring move shahbaz sharif who needs to change from his stodgy politics agrees to bring back his foreign holding most of which he says are loans...?The PMLn needs to bring about about a province wide policy rather than address a few points here and there...and turn lahore into a city of concrete...addressing popular problems seems to be the least of teh concerns of the PMln and obviously the sindh only policies of teh PPP...with only a few hundered mw in power added naveed qamar insists that teh power problems will be resolved although there seems tobe no real change in teh short or long term evident from the policies of teh PPP regime...
  
• June22-2011--Even the pakistan police are becoming funny when they suggest that inuendo at who knocked out saleem shezad are just general allegations...
  
• June22-2011--Asif Zardari suggests that the nawaz sharif campaign against the army is to pit the PPP against the army...however one does not see any mention of the PPP or zardari anywhere in teh PMLn campaign which is directed at a change in armed forces attitudes of amassing useless weapons and being unable todo anything when teh indians or the US infiltrate...even the US newspapers point to a Kiani statement which says that the wobbling army chief and the PPP have mortgaged the country to the USA...one should actually say we have mortagaged teh defence of teh country to the USA...nawaz sharif and his men have differing perspectives on teh army...nawaz sharif remembers the kargil fiasco and the coup when he attempted to remove teh army chief...others see the millionaire and billionaire generals and the attempts at personal self preservation...while others see teh refusal by the military to replace failing commanders...The criticisms are valid and the armed forces should themselves change to see realities and change leaders if teh PPP is frightened to do so...otherwise teh only alternative will be a coup when one of the top army leaders dies or is incapacitated...??discussions and viewpoints should not be turned into diehard ideologies of one sort or the other...The military defence thinktanks should at least bring in the pakistani intelligentsia to hear differing viewpoints and at the least let their own thinktanks to stretch their visions..obviously the mere viewpoint that we are a weak and powerless country unable to fight does not require much discussion...
  
• June22-2011--In what was many say is probably a propaganda shot across the bows army announces arrest of a GHQ brigadier who went AWOL a month and half ago...supposedly for working with hizb al tahrir a not very famous banned organisation...many suggest that the timing suggests some links to the abbottabad incident or possibly even mehran base attacks...in that context many see the navy chief as very funny as he was involved in ransom payments for the somali kidnapping of a ship...navy must be very weak if it cant board a ship with just a few somali militants on board...others suggest other nefarious objectives including coruption..the naval chief supposedly a studious type arrived at the mehran base in a BMW..!!...

• June19-2011--many suggest that the army is using the 500 billion budget to raise its walls higher and turn itself into the fortress army...protecting itself rather than pakistan..the army probably at its lowest ebb in stature since the 1958 coup...one lawmaker called the armed forces status confidence shaking even though the army has never been able to really deliver...mehtab abbasi teh former chief minister of nwfp said the security policy has turned teh safe nwfp and fata into problem areas and balochistan has plunged into military operations which seem tobe directionless..many however point out that nwfp has always been suspect security wise and only constant monitoring has kept teh situation calmer than it is now...many regard the abbottabad operation and tbe mehran airbase attacks as the lowest ebbs in the armed forces history...while some criticised the 25-50 crore(wealth) owning generals that teh country is making as teh cause of teh problem while others said that teh armies political motives were the real cause of teh problems
  
• June18-2011--the retired Admiral Mullen says they dont want to break off relations with pakistan.. just make them tremble with embarassed subjugation given the haughty attitudes in the pir, zardar and army chief mentalities...one or the other is liable tobe embarassed by every event...he says the pathetic pakistanis wont be able to stop drone attacks and teh combo of kiani, pasha and gilani just fooling the populace...with zardari a step ahead wanting just one drone for personally directing teh attacks...many suggest that the PPP's anti people nature is apparent by the sanaullah comment that zardari and gilani are wearing 7-8 eight lakh suits...no wonder they have a trillion rupees budget deficit...probably the largest in history...many laud the temperament of the kicked out baber awan who is still ready to fight the PPP top duo and rana sanaullah's fatwa's...PTV acting as the PPP's mouth piece under the dictatorial buffalo doctor...kaira was probably a little straighter than teh current PPP cabinet?..methinks the US has the 7-10 year itch and is as usual moving towards another period of problematic relations...

• June18-2011--In what some term as the pukhtun dominated outer areas of rawalpindi people demonstrated against electricity shutdowns on peshawar road and burnt a police van, damaged several vehicles and destroyed a military chackpost on pir wadhai mor...there were also shouts of nawaz and zardari murdabad...shows the pathetic nature of teh Gilani regime..many remember the benazir era when she used the entire US Aid funds to set up IPP's and solve teh energy crisis...The current PPP regime seems blind to teh peoples problems and many forecast a terrible defeat for them in elections which many say could be held later this year...they are only interested in bringing this group and that into the coalition to protect their personal governance...
  
• June18-2011--pakistan army claims that the double dealing malicious US intelligence chief lying when he said that they let information out of the bag on IED factories...the army says that they got info on four such locations of which two were destroyed...the army says with what happens to secret documents in teh USA especially the wholesale wikileaks it is quite clear where the information is leaked...pakistan army and intelligence known tobe close mouthed people who share very little with anyone whether it is finances or intelligence...The only people that teh army and intelligence talks to are presidents and primeministers...The armed forces in pakistan are very isolated... living and working in highly secretive and seperate places which are generally offlimits to the populace...i recently passed by the old army house in rawalpindi a very friendly location in the old days and it was surrounded by a high wall and sharp fences and all its gates on the front had been closed and shuttered...a similar look at the army chiefs route to the GHQ shows roads blocked off and whole areas shuttered for security...a similar story comes from looking at an army secretariat in saddar...blocked with cement boulders...our army was paranoid about security before and now it has almost closed itself off from public view...generals live in seperate compounds almost totally isolated from public view...however teh upscale nature of teh armed forces living standards is demonstrated by the askari villas and plazas and teh DHA's which demonstrate the high premiums that teh pakistani people pay for almost a weak armed force which can barely react to attacks verbal or military...many say the development in rawalpindi is concentrated on teh roads that the army chief uses regularly...one however is flabbergasted to learn that the army has to use US special forces to train its paramilitary wings such as the FC...recently shabaz sharif has invested in 2 billion rupees in upgrading all the roads in teh rawalpindi cantonment and the road that got most of the attention was the expansion of a road leading to the CMH from the place where the two top generals live in pakistan...a ambulance they say can get to the CMH from the army chiefs house in minutes now...almost a century old grapefruit trees they say were pulled out so that teh generals could get to the CMH quickly...?and these faujis used to live in barracks in the old days...is'nt it time that the fauj started to fight rather than just enriching itself(different from uranium enrichment)

In what can be said tobe a late reaction investigating people who worked for the CIA on the Osama residence...while spying for the enemy is definitely culpable many are questioning the CIA nature which is basically enemy natured towards pakistan..depicting pakistan as a failed state and not worthy of confidences is not a friendly gesture and pakistan should many say restudy its terrible economic and military dependence and now intelligence dependence on an enemy of teh state...friends donot behave like enemies nor do they run operations to embarrass the host government...it would hardly have mattered if Osama had been caught five or even ten years later given the situation...reports suggest that upto now five or even more have been arrested and interrogated in the working for the enemy routine including a milkman and an army doctor...and the person who rented a home to teh CIA...many suggest that some CIA spies even fired flares over teh house to help the helicopters fly in and also refueled the helicopters...while others suggest that this is just a replay of the blackwater philosophy by the pakistanis...first they ask the CIA, FC and police to kill every suspect and terrorist and than recoil to remove DG's and IG's and arrest FC men who kill dacoits on chief minister orders......?the same process is not however carried out when suspect agencies remove troublesome journalists...many question the usurpation of the primeministers job of removing top officials from their positions which teh SC has been doing without even referring to a law under which teh action is taken...

• June12-2011--shahid khaqan abbasi the airblue owner suggests that two thirds of the national assembly members donot pay their taxes...taxes these days are mostly indirect and everyone has to pay those..the punjab governments nominal taxes on farm houses is however a good move and CDA too should impose such taxes...if landowners are not paying enough than appropriate indirect taxes on land ownership should be enforced too...direct taxes are so small a part of revenues that the validity of not paying taxes does not hold these days...khaqan abbasi whose father also earned wealth thru suspect saudi bussinesses said that 50 million peopel still earn around Rs3000 a month and the government should try to think of them when they go for their needless largesse to industrialists and revenue increases and price hikes...

• June11-2011--The army which is only used to onesided diatribes against politicians and LEA's is coming in for increasing criticism...many see their handling of the afghan dispute and related problems such as the CIA,taleban, terrorism and drones as pathetic...others suggest that the top CIA agents in pakistan maybe the duo of K and P...Nawaz sharif suggested that the army change its mindset of being a holy cow...he suggested that the army end its domination of foreign policy and there should be no parallel government of agencies...he blamed kashmir on the army too..hina jilani, jugnoo mohsin also critisized the armies attitude...people generally think that the armed forces seem incapable of handling their responsibilities...tehmina daultana also took umbrage at the army corp commanders haughty attitude and said that if pasha had any intellect he would have resigned...many suggest that the PPP's recent coalition partners seem ISI ordained too...!!
  
• June11-2011--The rangers might have been guilty of some indiscipline and mishandling but the SC in a display of its highhandedness and pique ordered the transfer of the IG and DG rangers sindh...who theoretically donot seem tobe guilty..The SC CJ seems tobe a bit unfit for his job too if the only way he can deal with a beaurocracy is to fire people from their jobs...he has not cited any law in ordering the removal of teh IG and DG rangers...that is an executive duty and there is no law under which the SC can remove people from their jobs or transfer them......anyway one of the rangers used a pistol that was apparently that of the victim and it seemed to go off inadvertently... shooting a suspect in the leg is justified if he does not follow orders and behaves as if he is going to cause trouble...Cant the SC suo moto the taleban and US ambassador...?given the countries strange circumstances the national assembly and the SC are using whatever comes their way to distract from a terrible government and budget...The courts at least should behave sensibly but they too are attempting to politicize a judiciary which seems at best unable to deal with most situations...The SC too seems to think that it is not teh Rangers job to police karachi and it is necessary that the rangers be withdrawn and teh police and politicians start to do their real job...when u put the rangers into a policing situation with the threats of terrorism and suicide bombings than such things will happen...policing has tobe done without the gun tobe effective...but when u see nobody being brought to justice for the last twenty years of mayhem in karachi where non judicial eliminations have been the norm...

• June10-2011--The corp commanders have turned into a Gilani...they have at best turned into a cocoon who are unable to deal with the situation in the region and are becoming increasingly isolated in the country...just look at this...we oppose drone attacks...intelligence sharing on only a reciprocal basis...only received $8.6 billion in coalition support funds of expected $13 billion and army only got $1.4 billion of that...refuse to start an operation in north waziristan..will rely on loyal tribesmen.....everybody should be quite as a mouse and not slander army...the generals also took a step backward from openly supporting their proteges...ie the gilani-zardari axis of the PPP...The generals refused to acknowledge the public perception that the army is weak and unable to deal with attacks from india, afghanistan and even some say russia and the USA(taleban and al qaeda)...obviously an armed forces cannot rely on words alone and have to move forward and attack bases in india and afghanistan...drone attacks wont stop if they wont stop them entering pakistan...and apparently americans in pakistan only to train pakistanis in new equipment...hav'nt heard of any specific hard to use military machines...why cant they get a few soldiers trained in the USA and who can than carry on the job in pakistan rather than create a deliberate confusing and unbalanced security situation...
  
• June10-2011--In karachi a guy the usual mqm killer/dacoit type...is looting women's purses in a park the rangers are told...they apprehend an armed man face covered by a red handkerchief but handle him sloppily and he starts to act up and gets shot in the leg...and dies of over bleeding...just a minor matter of not rushing him to hospital...the whole national assembly up in arms...
  
• June10-2011--Gilani seems to claim that people should not make fun of teh sindh rangers as they are an institution just caught executing a minor thief...and someone in the NA referred them as "riasati badmash"(some say that refers to Gilani and zardari and kiani who are the actual rulers and not the national assembly)?...although one has to admit that there would be no karachi, fata or balochistan in pakistan by now without their highhandedness...!!Gilani also indirectly accused himself, the army chiefs and khawaja asif of teh PMLn of making fun of the armed forces against teh constitution......three years of drone attacks and Gilani continues too insist that he is trying to convince teh americans to stop them...when a country as unit is slapped in the face and than quibbles about reactions and commissions than who is making fun of teh institutions..is it the armed forces themselves...The ISI/rehman malik/mqm can get rid of zia era PPP hijackers and taleban journalists but cannot mount an effective intelligence operation to get rid of terrorists...rehman malik makes fun of institutions by suggesting that the terrorists are animals...who the FC, interior ministry and armed forces cannot get rid off...animals should be easy prey for a 500 billion armed force..which also they say rips of another 100 billion of state funds by refusing to pay taxes and report earnings...!!...one thinks...and the SC why cant it take suo moto notice of teh abbottabad attack but can of two bottles of liquor...one wonders who is making fun of whom...and on top of it Kiani offers all foreign military aid tobe used for the people...not a single program in the budget is directed at the people...?

• Jun07-2011--A discussion on Dawn on intelligence cooperation and joint operations shows that we are almost a subjugated people...this points directly to the musharaf-PPP policy of taking US aid in exchange for killing our own objectives and people..we should realize that the afghan war is over...and no independent trained armed force works under another countries combat command...even allies in iraq and afghanistan work seperately in seperate areas...we should also tell the US this is our own country and we do want it tobe invaded, semi occupied or over run by US agents and marines for whatever purpose...if we go by history the US has never fought any war against terrorism and obviously are not as experienced as our own armed forces which have been continuously fighting such forces in one way or the other...intelligence cooperation obviously means embarassing our supposedly experienced ISI and army chief and than making them obey whatever the US says...teh differences in perceptions and real intelligence is also quite apparent between the US and pakistan as well as india and afghanistan...the almost daily drone attacks some seemingly mounted on remote haciendas probably just for fun since teh pakistanis are almost totally subdued...if teh drone attacks do not stop than there is only one way to go about it and the pathetic Gilani is obviously not teh right man for the job...i refer to drone attacks as continuous slaps on the Gilani face...if someone were to do that for each drone attack he would surely do something about them...many feel that we should do whatever we want too if the US does not stop killing people just on the off chance of netting some supposed taleban or alqaeda leader

• Jun03-2011--The government revises its revenue for last year to 1588 billion and envisages a 22% increase in revenues...that means that teh government has almost doubled revenues thru its tax, tax and tax single minded policy...how much more do they want...still they want to widen teh tax base.. for what...to make peoples lives more miserable...it is time for the government to think whether they have an ounce of reason or logic in their brains..despite the doubling of revenues they still are unable to pay the enhanced provincial share of 57%...the provinces will at best get 30-40% because there is no money if teh government allocates 500 billion for the armed forces...200 billion administrative ..500 billion loan repayments..750 billion development...that leaves only around 500-600billion for the provinces and the government is obviously lying that it can make such payments to teh provinces...their share comes out to the pre NFC 37%...The government should quit lying and balance the budget...people are sick and tired of hearing tax agriculture...widen the tax base...it all has to come out of the peoples pockets in the end...as much as u increase revenues...the same percentage u have to hike prices somewhere...
  
• Jun03-2011--Heard a discussion on a tv channel in which they all wanted to increase taxes...one thing that these experts need to understand is that price hikes are directly correlated with revenue hikes...if revenue increases are 60% than price hikes will be 60%..coupled with hikes in electricity and petroleum products the price hikes tend towards 100%...most experts wanted to tax agriculture and increase direct taxes...it is generally a good idea not to tax the food chain...otherwise if u tax the agriculturist he will just increase prices further...the same applies to chicken feed and chicken sellers and suppliers..if u increase taxes on them chicken will get expensive and people already finding protein sources extremely hard to afford...RGST not a good idea apart from the reduction in some taxes that it proposes...and i think if the governemnt had allocated and spent 5 trillion on power generation there would be no electricity problems by now...obviously the government did not seem to have 5 trillion to spend over two years anyway......similarly if u tax the millions of retailers what will they do...tag on their taxes to the sale price...the same goes for all other bussinessmen and industrialists...none of them pay out of their own pockets but tag all the taxes to the sales price..just increasing taxes isnt the only thing in a budget...stop wasteful spending...billions go into useless porkbarrel projects which are meaningless to the people...stop expanding and improve what u have...industrialisation is useless when u can get cheaper products from china...stop expensive aid from all donors...match the expenses to the actually available resources so that prices can be kept in check...stop fueling inflation...there is no point to it...reduce defence expenditure ...our armed forces have never been able to provide the expertise necessary...try to get your aid providers to write of your debt or reschedule debt over the next twenty years...delay aid returns and concentrate spending on the real problems that face the country...shortage of electricity and high prices...There is no point in increasing funding of provinces they donot provide any services to the people...delay NFC awards for two years...Indirect taxes are the best but that does not mean that u should keep increasing indirect taxes...This government has spent at least 6 trillion over the past three years and has nothing to show for it...why because all the trillions have been wasted uselessly...stop waste and think like a poor country..not like the USA...
