The Daily PakistanPolitics Jan 01-15, 2012

  • Jan 15-2012--In response to twitter posts US state deptt spokeswomen says that pakistan should deal with the balochistan issue thru negotiations...this after it was revealed that punjab governor killed by organisation that was paid 36000 dollars by teh US...
  • Jan 15-2012--In DI Khan teh DPO office attacked by three militants...seven killed including three militants and two policemen
  • Jan 15-2012--After the craziness exhibited by Gilani teh army chief said that he too is not subordinate to teh primeminister and told Asif Zardari that teh primeminister had better withdraw his statements about teh armed forces which he regards as interference in his domain..Gilani obviously is not right about who he is responsible too and as primeminister he has to work with everyone as a system cannot work in isolated spheres according to his view...parliament is at best a rubber stamp and everyone cannot work after seeking approval for everything...however NAB on the other hand finally said that all NRO cases are now open and they are even willing to write to teh swiss if teh SC so orders...Kiani had initially a falling out with asif zardari in the memo controversy and he now apparently has a working relationship with zardari...all the faults of this government are now in commissions barring the NRO...from abbottabad onwards teh government has lost almost all credibility...parliament, president, primeminister should many say all take a hike...new elections are teh only answer...
  • Jan 15-2012--the guardian writes in an editorial on Jan 11, 2012...
Mr Zardari and the PPP government can be faulted for many things. The political charge sheet is long: incompetence, weakness, venality. They reacted terribly to the worst floods in living memory. They have pandered to fundamentalism over the blasphemy law rather than facing it down. A weak state has grown steadily weaker under their civilian control. Mr Zardari carries much personal baggage, which is almost certainly worthy of further investigation, but while president, he enjoys immunity from prosecution and he is right to face down the military. The place to oust an administration enjoying a two-thirds majority is at an election, and the people to do so are voters, not judges, generals or intelligence chiefs. Anyone who allows generals to remove politicians must be aware that the same could happen to them....

    my response to which is...

while one agrees that a democracy cannot survive under teh military yoke it is also impossible for many to tolerate teh inadequacies of teh personnel in charge...in a democracy if u donot want coups than a failed primeminister or even president must move on if they are responsible people...all the primeminister had to say was i am sorry for suggesting that teh military is running a state within a state...when a sorry can solve teh problem and that is snowballed into a controversy than it is obvious that teh mental state of feudal type rulers(a multani pir and a sindhi wadera) is in question...when u cannot remove an army chief than what type of democracy isit anyway...first the president had a run in with teh military chief and than the prime minister...the president they say had a heart attack when he was told to get lost...is he the president of dubai or pakistan...?
  • Jan 15-2012--The controversial Gilani may be behind teh memo many say as his weakness in not removing the army chief who clearly threatened him after what can at best be regarded as useless bravado in his unnecessarily critisizing the army...The DCC meeting saw Gilani aimlessly suggesting that they were somehow for peace in teh region and country both of which cannot be achieved without a strong military with the ability to fight at least those that attack it...and with no regional power barring small terrorist oriented groups...If teh country is going tobe pulverized by US attacks than how can peace be achieved...with both military and government turning into silent onlookers to internal and external threats..mere pacifism does not solve issues.....the region too is clearly threatened by US moves against iran, pakistan, soviets needless building up of indian armed prowess..and US/taleban destabilization in afghanistan..indian covert destabilization added to US and taleban actvities are not conducive to peace in anyway with reports of teh US having paid for the assassination of a punjab governor...one wonders what Gilani wants to achieve as military chiefs sat in angry silence at the DCC meeting...peace cannot be achieved if teh country cannot deal with its own defence internally and externally...a weak government will clearly be faced with an uncertain future with both internal and external threats and a subjugated attitude towards teh US and an established inability to resolve popular issues...The government has clearly been unable to resolve major economic, foreign and military affairs issues with a clear attitude of irresponsibility and avoiding real tough decision making and a general tendency to create trouble and tensions to force military , people and opposition into silence...the government clearly wants an atagonistic attitude towards teh army and judiciary which has forced them to take serious stands on major issues which the PPP has a tendency to avoid...
  • Jan 14-2012--The memo controversy made a move forward with mansoor ijaz saying that there were two others who coauthored teh memo with haqqani...they are referred to as a jehangir keramat and teh controversial mahmud durrani...mansoor has refused to come back to pakistan without a security guarantee...however if the writers are convicted so will teh courier...
  • Jan 14-2012--sacked defence secretary khalid laodhi also suggest that his removal was illegal and might move the courts...
  • Jan 14-2012--teh SC backed off from indicting baber awan for contempt...
  • Jan 14-2012-- 150 militants attacked a security post near peshawar in which seven militants and three security men were killed...
  • Jan 14-2012--PMLn's Nawaz Sharif tries to get together a coalition of nationalists, religious groups and some breakaway factions...with teh PPP trying to stake a claim to seraikis mohajirs, pukhtuns and teh sindhi PPP group...
  • Jan 14-2012--The beleaguered Gilani takes refuge in a parliament which has not been in much evidence as far as the problems of teh population are concerned..democracy many says is meaningless when teh people suffer at teh hands of a ethnic coalition which seems to have no popular support left...Gilani who was challenged by the military and judiciary on his conduct finally moved a resolution asking parliament to support teh lame duck governance with Gilani referring to himself as a crow...crows many say usually only get together when they are fed chichras(pieces of inedible meat) as Chaudhry Nisar said we are not crows and will not dumbly gather around to support Gilani...Zardari also many say quickly left for the safe haven of Dubai...however NAB finally moved to obey some SC orders while teh PPP suggested they might be willing to write a letter to teh swiss...The NRO however has other aspects too...most of the PPP problems actually stem from not taking appropriate actions in resolving people issues and in teh foreign domain while being reluctant to remove bad appointments time and again...parliament many say also seemingly turned pro american and suggested that taxes be imposed on Nato traffic and their goods be allowed thru if they gave a categoric assurance on stopping attacks on pakistan...many say teh ISI and army failed to give any confidence on relations with the arrogant attitude perpetuated by the USA repeatedly......The army has failed to realize that they have to act if the countries security is repeatedly threatened by external sources as well as internal troublemakers...
  • Jan 13-2012--US again challenging pakistan dubious military with another drone atatck that kills five
  • Jan 13-2012--Another pir appeared on the sindhi scene who is not expected tobe as powerful as teh pir of pagara who usually made political statements about teh GHQ and kept teh muslim legue from getting together...
  • Jan 13-2012--Senate elections on March 2 as case in SHC suggests that most senate candidates have a dual nationality.. elections should theoretically occur after a vacancy comes into being rather than before...
  • Jan 13-2012--The corp commanders and teh unpopular or strange ethnic coalition met seperately and teh tensions continued as teh corp commanders were unhappy at the firing of a retired general from a reserved for teh military slot...many suggest that teh table can only be cleared by teh replacement of Gilani who seems unable to understand that there is no fixed term for parliament or primeminister and nobody else has any problems with the military apart from the saleem shehzad commission which asked that the ISI be made accountable...others suggest that a DCC meeting could suggest removal of teh military duo after it was revealed that teh US could have paid for the elimination of teh punjab governor...while Asif Zardari suspiciously again ran off to Dubai...with the revival of drone attacks and some severe attacks in balochistan and the Fata the military and teh government are at a cross roads...if someone is not fired than teh solution could come from teh SC cases on the memo and teh NRO which are both aimed at teh same set of people...others suggest that even the ethnic coalition is divided and no one even supports a generalized resolution supporting the top controversial two and teh PMLn talks of a vote of no confidence..many are talking about replacements with even names for replacing Gilani being studied...while there no real stalwarts amongst teh PPP anybody with a little sense could do a better job than teh seraiki Gilani...
  • Jan 12-2012--Gilani suffered another setback when teh US resumed drone attacks in teh Fata killing four..Gilani claims to have solved issues that restart like electricity load sheddings, drone attacks and constitutional changes...and teh NRO keeps striking back as teh government refuses to take action
  • Jan 12-2012--Muzzafargarh mna jamshed dasti a rare non elite elected in a rural fuedal constituency resigns from the national assembly and teh PPP alleging interefernce by Hina Krabbani khar and corrupt appointments in his constituency..
  • Jan 12-2012--The USA said it had paid teh Sunni Ittehad said tobe associated with the elimination of teh punjab governor around 36000 dollars causing suggestions that teh USA might be involved in teh murder...
  • Jan 12-2012--In turbat two FC vehicles were attacked by militants killing 14 soldiers
  • Jan 12-2012--Things were up for grabs as teh ISPR spokesman critisized Gilani for his harsh comments about teh armed forces as brigade 111 was made ready to move...however Gilani under pressure from teh SC immediately fired teh defence secretary a retired lt.gen appointed by gen kiani and appointed his own beaurocratic controller as defence secretary...however general Kiani given his reputation for backing off did not make teh decisive move as the SC appointed another seven judge panel to study teh six options on the NRO decision as teh PPP found it difficult to convince its allies on even a parliamentary support motion while many wanted an immediate vote of confidence or no confidence...The PPP seems in a fix and many suggest immediate early elections which teh PPP wants after teh senate elections...It now leaves it to a seven judge SC panel to decide whether to sack Gilani or back off too...the four zardari, kiani, gilani, and iftikhar chaudhry have been patting each others backs as the country literally goes to teh dogs...and avoiding real decision making...many point to teh possibility of a coup initiated at a lower level as teh top army officials and teh SC are seen to be dilly dallying or keeping pending important decision making the government unstable and its pathetic nature seemingly acceptable at teh top level as they are increasingly seen as not having a popular base something considered preferable in teh armed forces while politicians continue attempts to portary themselves as super human martyrs who are just as above teh law as teh armed forces top brass...!!!...
  • Jan 11-2012--In what can be said tobe teh first decision by the SC against the present regime's behaviour an SC bench declared six options for a larger bench to study on teh governments refusal to follow orders on teh NRO decision...They suggested that Gilani may not be an honest person. The options include..1..disqualification of Gilani, zardari, law minister and secretary...2..Initiate contempt proceedings against Gilani and law ministry..3..The SC appoints a commission to handle teh implementation of the NRO..4..Asif zardari can claim immunity under article 284..5..Removal of chairman NAB for contempt and refusal to obey orders..6..Exercise judicial restraint and let the people make teh decision(possibly call elections under an interim authority). Yusuf Raza Gilani who has outlived any possible sympathy again tried to play the martyr but there were few buyers left for the PPP's mazloom drama after almost four years of consistent negative governance in substance as well as related to implementation of court orders...many suggest that the only way out for the PPP is to immediately call new elections within 30 days possibly after declaring a NRO like general amnesty for all politicians or all previous governments...if that was difficult they could ask parliament to handle teh NRO issue...The PPP has been at loggerheads with the PMLn on a real NAB law but wanted themselves absolved or at least the top government officials..the law would have little bite left if it did not cover governments, legislators and generals...They do have a majority and can devise a new NRO act or override the SC entirely and pass teh original NRO into legislation...The PPP and its allies have come across as dubious in implementation of court orders as well matters of serious governance...While Nawaz Sharif had agreed to repay his loans and reorganize his industrial concerns for release teh PPP/PMLq/musharaf went for an NRO to cover/absolve all those whose cases had not been decided in teh last decade...The SC gave parliament time to bring legislation to cover the NRO but they refused...and teh SC than declared the NRO null and void and asked teh government to reinitiate teh swiss cases which had generally lost validity and almost thousands of other cases against politicians generally from teh PPP and mqm...
  • Jan 11-2012-- remote control device device exploded in jamrud bazaar killing over 30
  • Jan 11-2012--Power cuts of 12-20 hours across teh country as government shuts down hydel power stations to conserve water during canal closures..there was only 6500MW of generation left..the dawn says without wapda the countries discos and other companies are without a real coordinator although the NTDC has todo teh job which controls transmission lines and grid stations......in rawalpindi alone there were irregular cuts from two hours to five hours and unimportant areas suffered at teh hands of government and military areas...with gas almost shutdown teh problems are being exacerbated with almost no governance in these problem isuues...
  • Jan 10-2012--gas problems and long duration electricity shutdowns continue in northern rawalpindi...electricity has been shutdown upto five hours in a stretch while there has been no gas during the past three days and nights...
  • Jan 10-2012--The Election commission is said tobe not ready for elections within ninety days and elections could theoretically be held in May...The PPP's hurried call for early senate elections is being seen as an attempt to not lose further support by getting it over quickly...while others suggest that they are trying to pre-empt a coup which would leave them as a majority party in the senate as elections under the army or judiciary could see them wiped out of central and northern punjab and losing heavily in south punjab as well despite their seraiki province move...
  • Jan 10-2012--The PPP already losing support in the punjab seem worried about teh arrival of general musharaf from exile...the last coup plotter who could create trouble by standing as a candidate from karachi..being a mohajir he has support in karachi with the PPP being seen increasingly as having no sense of ruling teh country properly...with the army at logger heads with teh government many generals think that musharaf might have been a better choice than the seemingly do nothing or "no gas no electricity zardari"...sindh's raza rabbani wants an article 6 case against musharaf while manzoor wassan says he will be arrested immediately...others suggest that musharaf might come back under an agreement that he will only stand from teh remote chitral and not trouble the mqm or PPP...
  • Jan 10-2012--militants exchange ten soldiers bodies with those of 10 militants who went missing in an attack on their post in orakzai on Dec 21
  • Jan 10-2012--three girls die in a concert stampede in lahore
  • Jan 10-2012--The memo case hinges on blackberry data some of which apparently seen by teh ISI chief...haqqani had nothing to offer in his appearance to the SC but seemed uneasy about any blackberry related information which he said were government phones which he had left in teh USA...an ambassador leaving his official phones behind in teh USA seems tobe quite strange...The USA which many say was involved as Admiral Mullen might have asked General Kiani to quit...when he refused he suggested that Kiani was unreliable a statement that might also have been made by some of pakistans top politicians...Dawn suggests that Asif Zardari might have to visit dubai again tobe tutored in how to handle his deteriorating relations with teh army chief who many say has been taking it rather lightly in view of teh strange remarks by teh dubious seraiki in parliament and recently...The ISI chief many say wanted teh SC to hear him in camera suggesting that he might have information that would be damaging to the the government and Haqqani...
  • Jan 10-2012--Gilani now being referred too as a semi idiot after he mistakes CJ's remarks about army actions such as coups and military actions as illegal if not ordered by teh government..Gilani however said that the statements in response to SC orders on the memo issue by teh army chief and ISI chief( literally considered as the only institutions in this country) were illegal as he had not approved them...obviously the CJ had asked them for their personal responses as he had the other respondents...Gilani apparently said that teh army was functioning as a state within a state...earlier Gillani was forced by teh army chief or GHQ not to replace teh army and ISI chiefs some suggest by force...
  • Jan 09-2012--maulana Fazlur rehman after talking to the mqm says Asif zardari can be persuaded to quit...?
  • Jan 09-2012--Lull in drone attacks have emboldened militants says NYT...however drone attacks were totally counter productive and an effective political solution can be worked out eventually with a a united militant group willing to work across teh tribal areas if the government shows its committment to negotiations when teh militants reach the conclusion that whatever their military achievements the solution lies in a peaceful end game both in Fata and afghanistan...many however realize that may not be possible until teh US leaves afghanistan like vietnam...the pakistan military too might eventually work towards isolating teh tribal region rather than fighting it out...
  • Jan 09-2012--Altaf hussein says he does not want to divide sindh but wants to divide punjab and nwfp...?many suggest that the system of provinces should be eliminated totally and all divisions should be turned into provinces...many in punjab see the evil minds behind seraikistan but many suggest that sindh will not be able to contain the fallout of less water and no cotton...Gilani literally marooned and isolated in multan seems incapable of getting a seraiki resolution thru the punjab assembly...many suggest that the seraiki areas seem the only hope left for teh PPP as they donot seem to have enough support left in north and central punjab and many south punjab areas as well...
  • Jan 09-2012--the last coup plotter threatens to come back seeing the PPP regime destabilize...saying like his previous dictatorship that he can handle things...while his nazim local governments were relatively successful there was no development anywhere but karachi and his shaukat aziz economy was literally built on consumerism and CNg stations which brought more cars on teh road and destroyed literally the electrical infrastructure which has been continued by teh PPP regime which has also destroyed peoples purchasing powers thru price hikes and gas shortages...
  • Jan 08-2012--PMLn lawyers shout out Gilani "urf seraiki" as he tries to show his face in lahore an almost opposition safe haven...seraikis like gilani and baber awan have blamed lahore for the south punjab's problems...shabaz sharif and pervez elahi have both focused development on multan...multan khanewal motorway underconstruction as well as new multan airport...while many say karachi is to blame for looting south punjabs cotton and depriving it financially like other parts of teh country
  • Jan 08-2012--Asif Zardari who was hiding in dubai when benazir was killed says he had asked her not to attend the rawalpindi rally...suggesting that amin fahim, sherry and nahid khan were not the last peopel with her in teh car...zardari henchmen naik, rehman malik and baber awan did not cover benazirs car and went on ahead thus leaving her car unprotected with sherry rehman the prime accused in making her stand in her car...while the obvious negative security advice given to Benazir was clear teh PPP has not found teh controller a supposed sindhi maulvi and many still feel that the orders came from karachi and not Fata...while baitullah mehsud was later assassinated in a drone raid teh PPP has not claimed that they have killed the killer suggesting that they want to let of teh those involved...The PPP which has not followed up on teh NRO cases apart from a few now says that teh NRO cases and swiss cases are history...Asif Zardari fails to realize that Benazir alone was not responsible for everything and none of her close associates have been held accountable...Asif Zardari again claims that he had not run away to dubai despite there being suggestions that teh army chief held him responsible for the negative US attitude towards him...however teh army chief apparently backed out of any action and teh politicians again regrouped around teh dubious natured asif zardari...
  • Jan 08-2012--The PPP seems to think that 30 days from the occurrence of a vacancy in the senate means 30 days prior rather than afterwards..theoretically elections to the senate should take place from March 12 to April 11...The PPP now thinks that it can use the elections date as a bargaining tool...The PMLn only wants talks on a caretaker setup given teh history of dubious elections under teh PPP..It means that the PPP accepts that it has no mandate and does not want to resolve any crisis...The PPP wants elections in October while the PMLn is ready anytime and the PTI would go along with October...The PPP allies worried about its dubious support levels are now having other thoughts...many suggest that teh ANP , JUI-f, Mqm are all up for grabs by teh bigger parties with most regarding a PPP defeat as almost a foregone conclusion...The PMlq too has tried but nobody else wants anything todo with it...The PPP and mqm many say also thinks that musharaf might worry others but he is only a problem for them as kiani wont allow them to lets say hang him for his offences...
  • Jan 07-2012--In another attempt at subverting the constitution which clearly opposes creation of new provinces the PPP coalition attempted to continue its political mudslinging and again fixed its dirty eyes on breaking up punjab...khursheed shah knows what happens to such dirty eyes...with teh karachi based MQM failing to gain support for its hazara province move opposed tooth and nail by teh ANP the PPP again said that it would move a seraiki province move that will obviously fail in teh provincial assembly unless they can hold new elections before senate elections...the mqm is failing again inits move to divide the punjab and nwfp...many suggest that teh ANP and MQM should now realize what happens when they want other provinces divided and not their own...The PPP should replace Gilani as primeminister who is now a lame duck in non seraiki punjab...many say the provinces of pakistan are teh result of the pakistan resolution and cannot be subverted or broken up...after the failure of teh 19th amendment with nwfp still calling for provincial autonomy teh PPP is getting itself mired in more political trouble with province creation
  • Jan 07-2012--The dailytimes also states that the PPP wants senate elections in february for no political reason but is not willing to hold early national elections...early senate elections can only be justified if they want early national elections and the EC should reject teh PPP move...the PPP supposedly wants national elections in october and wants to negotiate on that...For the PMLn anydate after teh senate elections would be one and the same...October 2012 or April 2013 are not too far apart and the later the better as teh PPP will lose much more easily as their policies are bound to continue to create a negative effect...
  • Jan 06-2012--ASI gunned down in quetta as political killings in karachi continue
  • Jan 06-2012--Red Cross doctor kidnapped in quetta
  • Jan 06-2012--A strange women only bus was introduced in lahore from RA bazaar to Sanda...its windows are made of wood...!
  • Jan 06-2012--The SC finally realized that baber awan was mocking the SC and asked him to explain his contempt for the court..earlier the court had backed out of challenging asma jehangirs contemptuous assertions...
  • Jan 06-2012--The apparent taleban-interior ministery truce fell apart as 15 kidnapped FC men were found dead
  • Jan 06-2012--The new provinces debate failed to get much support as it seemed tobe about ensuring sindh as teh biggest province and destroying punjab and nwfp...nobody talked about teh divisions in sindh or balochistan where the divisions/regions are obviously badly managed...the biggest laughing point was that the mqm was acting as a PPP stooge since it has no support in seraiki or hazara areas...The ANP which can block the move in teh provincial assembly walked out of teh a national assembly as many thought that new provinces are not allowed under the constitution and at best they can recreate bahawalpur and kalat which were seperate areas before pakistan...
  • Jan 06-2012--It seems that the PPP has finally realized that Asif Zardari was behind the memo and refuse to let him appear in court to explain or defend himself even in writing...It seems that it now accepts general analysis that teh PPP is onits last legs with nothing to defend them as neither their policies nor their leaders are popular...PPP support is falling fast from the general perception of 20% and the PPP now thinks that early elections might help them survive...their attempt to get some ethnic support thru the mqm's seraiki and hazara provinces move has also pathetically backfired...as karachi(mqm) and teh PPP seems to have been looting south punjab's cotton and water and not lahore...there is also a substantial punjabi base which opposes the needless and anti constitutional more provinces move whose single aim is to make sindh the largest province...so they now want early senate elections Feb12 and early national elections Feb23...that way they can go into elections saying they have won the senate elections...but they wont be able to create new provinces as teh ANP opposes and the new senate wont be able to convene before mid march...others say the PPP cant wait for the new electoral rolls as that would harm them considerably in punjab and sindh...they also say that there is agreement on a division of senate seats between teh PMLn and PPP and the PMlq might not get more than two three seats..however given the situation a rebellion might occur amongst provincial assembly members if there are large sums available...!The PPP also now thinks that rallies and meetings might shore up support given teh huge shift in popular votes to imran khan and the PMLn..others suggest that Kiani's visit to china might be to see how the area can survive without teh US...however many say the chinese donot want an open fight with the USA due to trade and oil issues...teh PPP seems to think that teh chinese will support only the PPP but have been unable to get even chinese engines repaired...if elections are not held early kiani might many say push for total control or a coup...The new senate will many say adequately represent the present provincial situation for the first time since the zia ul haq coup...
  • Jan 05-2012--Nawaz Sharif many say should realize that this is not teh nineties and that military courts are not good idea for sindh...that is teh view of his supporters and teh CJ...if there is dakoo raj in sindh than teh police can quite adequately handle teh situation...
  • Jan 05-2012--The memogate commission wants to hear everyone on the issue...zardari, nawaz, army chief etc.
  • Jan 05-2012--full bench of LHC to take up Asif Zardaris refusal to give up political offices and treason by Gilani for refusing to obey court orders
  • Jan 05-2012--five militants killed in Fc clash in Zhob
  • Jan 05-2012--five PPP leaders issued contempt notices by teh Sc for their objectionable comments on teh SC's handling of teh memo issue...PPP is becoming an arch dictatorship considering pieces of paper worthless...they are close to a dictators view that even tehc onstitution is a piece of paper...!
  • Jan 04-2012--The SC says it might not have jurisdiction to advise the president on the ZAB case...In pakistani judicial history the elimination of a former ruler by an illegal military ruler is unique as there is no matching case in which any head of government has been executed barring the military ruler himself...Since a governments function includes elimination of terrorist and secessionist elements the power to eliminate a citizen is in question...usually a governments orders are not questionable...However in the case the FSF chief became a sultani gawah and said he had been ordered to straighten out a politician which he did by ordering an attack on him via military soldiers...there are apparently no records of any such orders...Since Zia Ul Haq was personally antagonistic towards ZAB he and the martial law regime made sure that he could not get away from a hanging in which many say ZAB was kicked by Zia Ul Haq and another military general oversaw the hanging by one tara masih...others say that there was wide spread animosity against ZAB amongst teh judges of the LHC and the SC which were not honest courts and were literally acting as the militaries hangmen...The SC should advise teh president that the SC is against reviews anyway as none have yet succeeded...but he can in a presidential proclamation detail teh case and its injudicial qualities and apologize to teh Bhutto clan for the military government and judiciaries actions...however it might be pointed out that benazir did accept teh same role as primeminister twice and was also eliminated by a militant bomb blast...she also negotiated with teh zia government...while others suggest that a revenge oriented elimination of Zia ul Haq by persons unknown should suffice as a just solution of the issue...
  • Jan 04-2012--dawn says there has been a reduction in suicide attacks in 2011 which went down to 45 from 68/85 in 2010/2009..deaths also went down from 10003 in 2010 to 7107 which includes military related casaulties..terror attacks were highest in Fata 675, balochistan 640, KP 512, karachi 58,sindh 21, punjab 30,GB 26, Islamabad 4, AJK 0
  • Jan 04-2012--The SC which in the last four years has been noisy and bossy but solved no problem warns government to implement the NRO verdict within a week or risk an SC coup...since that is the only way it can handle a government refusal to accept court orders...
  • Jan 04-2012--two killed in peshawar explosion as reports of a taleban-alqaeda-haqqani overseeing group is formed to sort out problems between discordant regional groups and teh people who have borne teh brunt of taleban violence..
  • Jan 04-2012--A taleban office in qatar could solve some amreeka-taleban issues although it would require a defacto peace or ceasefire between teh two...negotiations between teh two have never gotten off as the taleban are not as weak as pakistan which is literally a US appendage in teh area...
  • Jan 04-2012--The PPP again put domestic users of gas in rawalpindi at a disadvantage as gas disappeared in most rawalpindi areas after a government agreement with teh CNG riffraff...
  • Jan 04-2012--many say that altaf hussein and yusuf the seraiki gilani are almost ethnic desperados...a new province wont solve anything...setup a textile city in south punjab so that karachi can no longer loot their cotton...a documentary on khyber tv showed what the pukhtuns have turned peshawar their identity into... compared to the beautiful city of the sixties...piles of garbage everywhere and terrorism...others question whether a matter already subjudice can be presented in parliament...altering a provinces borders means slight adjustments and not creation of new provinces...the mqm which has succumbed to sindhi pressure on karachi is the main proponent of new provinces which are generally opposed..many say that they only want to divide punjab..others say that they will vote against those trying to divide the punjab..we will see how gilani defeats punjabis...!!...others see it as an underhand conspiracy sindhi move to become a bigger province compared to teh present punjab...The PMLn the main party in punjab wants to see a province in bahawalpur and some sort of southern punjab on their own terms...so the measure at present is at best political unless the PPP can bargain with the PMLn...the PMLn could ask the PPP to leave the punjab totally so that it can fight it out with the PTI...many doubt that it will help the PPP or mqm in punjab and nwfp areas as their fortunes are at best drowning in apathy, indifference and discontent in the north..many say sindh can hardly benefit if punjab is divided into three provinces of say 23% 15% 12% although than it could be equivalent to or bigger than say the punjab central and northern areas..in two provinces of say 25% 27% it would become the third largest province and probably lose out in economic terms as well as water distribution as it would no longer be a lower riparian ...
  • Jan 03-2012--The son of the dirty judge Anwarul Haq who was the CJ in the bhutto case files petition from teh zia ul haq side asking for the military regimes documents tobe submitted as well..The PPP and the CJ were thought tobe on teh side of declaring a mistrial given the huge number of people eliminated in pakistan by police, military and intelligence since than...so many suggest what if zulfikar ali bhutto had a few killed when others have killed in teh thousands including the present regime...also the reports of zulfikar ali bhutto having ordered the sultani gawa the FSF chief who got off scot free to straighten out the politician's father killed seem dubious and without foundation...reports of ziaulhaq having tampered with teh judiciary to get a majority verdict were also quite common and teh judges were not all lawyers in those days...with anwarul haq having risen from a deputy commissioners position..
  • Jan 03-2012--ISPR says that american relations crafted by dubious military rulers are now being downgraded to a low key status and pakistan is no longer billing the US for terrorism related expenses and does not want US military officers visits...Pakistan seems to have developed several levels of relationships with teh USA which include american ambassador, top politicians, foreign office, ambassador, military and CIA...many suggest that the relationship should only be at teh foreign office level so that there is no multiplication of politician, military and other individual interests...
  • Jan 03-2012--In what is being seen as teh PPP against domestic consumers with CNG and industrialists in teh opposition things in punjab were unsettled by teh governments gas policy and teh CNG stations strike in punjab and KP...there were protests in rawalpindi and in lahore and the GT road was blocked at five places...while in rawalpindi a police van ran over a SHO who was said tobe unconscious...rawalpindi a cold area saw protests in barha kahu, rawat, faizabad...CNG owners who were benefiting from teh crisis reacted to a statement by asim hussein that cng stations should be closed for a month...with mushroom growth of cng stations most are not making much money...many see government gas distributers in the south and north as not contributing to solve teh problems...The mqm again walked out of the national assembly showing their multiple and dual loyalties as teh PMLn also walked out as their main industrial support started to get worried
  • Jan 03-2012--Altaf Hussein after losing to the police and sindhis in karachi now wants to divide other provinces like the ANP...He also refuses to return teh cotton looted from south punjab by karachis industrialists...!!
  • Jan 02-2012--shakardarra oilfields near kohat blocked by area residents insisting on provision of gas to the area
  • Jan 02-2012--Asma Jehangir aka Asma Gilani who thought she was a judges pet refuses to represent Hussain Haqqani and committs contempt upon contempt this time ridiculing three high Court CJ's and the entire SC...many suggest that somebody who hides in the presidency and primeministers office must have something to hide...which also shows the contemptible behaviour of teh PPP regime...
  • Jan 02-2012--PPP hellbent on opening supply routes for Nato equipment as US tries to build up a credible afghan army as more US ships berth at karachi...US also restricting almost all aid to pakistan...many see the lull as positive as thing's have started to improve on teh law and order front and politicians feeling free to hold rallies that is barring the PPP who still seem like frightened appeasement oriented rabbits...The taleban also seem willing to restrict their activities to teh Fata if teh ISI does not provide more lists to teh US for drone attacks...there have been no drone attacks since November 17, 2011..Gilani also held a sort of corner meeting in multan with his bully Rehman Malik standing by his side looking like a botox filled dummy...PPP many feel is moving towards its worst showing in any pakistani polls observers say...many suggest that the pakistan armed forces must take control of the port and confiscate all US military equipment until their aid is released...

debacle in Dacca

debacle in Dacca
total humiliation...India had steadily destabilized east pakistan over twenty years playing on ethnic, financial, development and military concerns...pakistan was not that rich at that time and the ethnicists played on phsychosis generated by cyclones, floods, tea and jute...the army and west pakistani politicians could not accept a bengali dominated government and a small army contingent could not defend against the mukti bahini and the indians as teh US withdrew its support as usual...When teh going gets tough teh US chickens out as usual...!! The indians have continued teh same themes in karachi, sindh and balochistan but similar tougher responses have not allowed their success although pakistan is now at best a divided land with a pathetic center...!!While it left pakistan numb at the time many now feel the seperation was a proper solution as east pakistanis did not get along with pakistan and they would be better able to solve their problems with india...others still pine away for the lost land of rivers, tea and jute...others suggest that india should handover kashmir in exchange...while some still want to repatriate those considered pakistanis and left stranded in bangladeshi camps...others however heave a sigh of relief as teh problems with the remaining provinces are generally insoluble.....and ethnic regionalism or provincialism mixed with economic and racial nonsense is not a pleasant mode of politics anyway...
