- Jan30-2010-- the government finally released teh ADB's rented power plants report that said that the government was definitely being hoodwinked in teh RPP schemes and electricity rates that would otherwise rise by 67% by 2011 would go up by upto 87% instead...the 14 Rpp's would cost the government upto a third of its electricity revenues ie Rs200 billion...with higher costs of fuel, gas and the dollar the prices expected to go up by a further 200% according to Geo...The government is set to lose even more as reports suggest that higher the costs of electricity the higher the theft or losses even in just monetary terms...many suggest that teh government should end all IPP/RPP deals and give one overall price to the private sector and give all new power generation contracts to either Wapda or Pepco or a new government corporation which have substantially lower generation cost...private sector should also work on lower profits and long term earnings...since cost of new machinery is the same the old plants used in rental projects should not entail a higher cost...the rental plants previously installed have taken upto two years to setup and have proved useless and unusable..many suggest that the government which has linked the fate of the whole economy on higher electricity/gas prices inits dubious WB/IMF/NFC/royalty deals is deliberately destabilizing the economy by its regular price hikes and there is no point left in high priced private sector electricity...with load shedding almost a daily affair industries should be advised to arrange their own electricity and government should only feed teh domestic and commercial sectors
- Jan30-2010-- The PPP regime which many say has promoted 54 senior bearocrats unfairly on a crony/sectarian basis superceding over 100 others...most senior beaurocrats are very similar barring province/political/party/sect loyalties...The SC has reserved its judgement in the case suggesting that the government has acted with nepotism and shown undue favoritism...The government has suggested that the there are no rules for promotions into grade 22 barring personal likes and dislikes and the supreme court should not interfere inits discretion...many suggest that the SC should strike down such promotions that override seniority and maybe based on party/province/favoritism/nepotism/cronyism/sectarianism..earlier the governments promotions were labelled sectarianism/favoritism when it promoted two brothers tobe the chief of the navy and the foreign secretary...Yusuf raza has shown a particularly damaging regional bent preferring seraikis/shiites/syeds...

- Jan30-2010-- In a surprise election result JUI-F wins the mansehra NA21 seat with 36622 votes...PMLn--29,879, PMLq--31762 and PPP--28230..seems tobe an area dominated by four parties..generally thought of as a PMLn domain however nawaz sharifs nomination of a relative as a candidate caused the rejection...the election in NA55 could show how far the PMLn has fallen with sheikh rashid almost voteless in previous elections is vying for the PPP's party controlled support base...

- Jan29-2010-- Mohammed Yusuf who has led the pakistan cricket team to an almost unimaginable humiliation in australia thinks that he is still worth it as a captain...he seems unable to motivate and the image of the senior team is now less than pakistans under 19 team...many think he and younis with their current batting form should be thinking of retirement rather than retaining teh captaincy...many think salman butt and mohammed asif counld be possible captainship contenders with the unavailibility of any batting star...
