The Daily PakistanPolitics Sep 1-06, 2010

  • Sep6-2010--The former ZTBL president accused of attempting to murder a judges son in law after he declared his appointment null and void...
  • Sep6-2010--The government has suddenly realized that its economic position is shaky and that it has a huge internal and external debt...The PPP has literally given up trying to control anything whether they be utility price hikes or food prices or supply of electricity...upto now the governments position has been of trying to get more and more external aid without thought...the nwfp regime wanted more aid from foreign sources and suggested that without aid the militancy would increase...the sindh and nwfp governments even started to contest punjabs claims for disaster relief...suggestions of extraordinary taxes on urban areas by asif zardari seem tobe even more disastrous...many suggest that teh development budgets of the provinces and federal governments be pooled to alleviate the effects of teh disaster since there is effectively no popular development program...most of the development is concentrated in karachi, islamabad and lahore and funds can easily be diverted...the military can easily put on hold major purchase orders...heavy taxation on urban centers or the very rich will only cause extreme price hikes...the governments should spend what they have on disaster relief and continue with it in the next few years...priorities should be shifted..major road development projects and islamabad development projects can easily be halted and funds shifted to necessary flood repairs...as can programs like an extra container port or even the islamabad airport...in extreme situations 50% salary hikes for government employees can be suspended for two years and imports of luxury items be stopped as well as any major activity that the government is spending heavily on...the people are basically even unaware of what the federal government and provincial development programs are...BISP distributions can be stopped in areas not effected and shifted to flood affected areas...the government can get rupee loans or start low interest flood bonds...it is time that the economists think about our country and our economics rather than that of helping the western world...the economics minister could even be given the task for starting work on requesting loan writeoffs or even rescheduling loans for another ten years...the government obviously does not have enough grey matter and is not even using what it has between its two ears...
  • Sep6-2010--rumours here suggest that altaf hussein has started to threaten the people of the entire country...it is laso rumoured that altaf hussein is sent around $15000 a month to live in england...where the mqm gets the funds is unknown...?
  • Sep6-2010--it seems that the pakistani cricket team loses more sleep over sponsorship deals than cricket...causing poor performances...many here feel that the spot fixing accusations lack any depth and agents can literally dupe players at will...in the 20-20 kamran akmal dropped a catch and batted poorly as he has to thank the english team for helping him out with straight catches...he cant catch a ball if it is above or below his gloves...rumours suggest that lorgat seems tobe out get pakistans best bowlers who can bowl out almost anybody on a good day...however others suggest that pakistan is already making deals for the world cup since other teams are good enough and can bowl and bat them to defeat...however pakistan has more bowling depth than batsmen waiting in the wings...still others rumour that salman, amer and asif are all policemen and are being given anti terrorism courses in the english police stations so that they can better manage teh team...many now feel that a captain alone cant handle the pakistani team and needs the support of at least his teams best players...no criminal charges have been filed against the pakistani players and they should appeal their suspensions...at best they face charges of bringing the game into disrepute...a team that has been on the losing side for some time can hardly fix a match by losing all the time...?
  • Sep5-2010--government school blownup in kalam, swat as two militants are killed in peuchar
  • Sep5-2010--eight killed in drone attacks near dattakhel, north waziristan...the US now unable to justify its attacks as there are now no safe havens left and the US seems tobe attacking individuals...
  • Sep5-2010--14 militants killed in central kurram mostly in a roadside exxplosion
  • Sep5-2010--PPP now almost in a coalition with the PMLq as its candidate a burqa clad women calls the PMLq leadership after winning in NA 184...PPP using PMLq to defeat PMLn in many of its strongholds while the PMLq almost extinguished from politics is using its voter base to taunt the PMLn...
  • Sep5-2010--Many suggest that stuart broad and andrew strauss could be other characters in the england betting scams as yasir hamid says that the sydney test was sold for pounds 1.3 million...while many say that kamran akmal was the teams point man or bookie earlier he now seems to have been toppled after his team place became unsustainable due to his constantly playing for the opposing side...pakistani batsmen have played strangely over the last three to four series despite a recent one test win over australia and england...many suggest that the teams lacklustre batting displays are due to the captain take all system in which the money won is not distributed amongst the team...such problems many say occurred under the younis khan captaincy and have continued since than...salman butt is coming across as a serious betting man and many suggest that he also extorted money from team players if they wanted to play under him...which caused large sums tobe uncovered from him...?younis khan is said to have sold the captaincy back to inzamam while kamran akmal many says has had to buy back the wicketkeepers position after terrible displays behind teh stumps...others say that younis khan had already made so much money that he did feel the need to play any longer...?
  • Sep5-2010-the sindh flooding sitution seems almost a drama as people from areas and political figures fight it out amongst themsleves and with irrigation officials when breaches are made or are attempted...th situation has been made worse by politically irresponsible statements from politicians such as altaf hussein and even shabaz sharif...more villages flooded near mehar...others suggest that teh sindh chief minister has controlled teh situation badly and is out to get more compensation from the federal government rather than reduce flood ravages...many are suggesting that a proper mechanism be created to handle such flood situations..others are suggesting a commission to study the technical problem of breeches and whether they were made to devastate specific areas...
  • Sep5-2010-latest reports suggest that the pakistani team threw the matches against england for the payment of 150000 pounds while others suggested that the english team gave the pakistani team charity thru the news of the world after the pakistani cricketers claimed they were very poor...the deal fell thru when the pakistani team won the third test match...and andrew strauss threw the spanner into the wheel...all three cricketers were questioned by police seperately at a police station...it is widely believed that the pakistanis also threw the australian series where they did not win even a single match...how much ricky ponting or the indians paid for that is unknown...?...still others suggest that the teams various betting groups pooled their money to go for an allout bet but someone snitched...?
  • Sep4-2010-The government, ADP, IMF, Pepco and WB losing credibility on electricity tariffs asif that was the only economic problem in the country..however their estimates on tariffs are astronomically different and range from 16% to 49%..the tariff problem was created by these organisations after trying to divide wapda up for privatisation and private generation...despite expected higher hydel generation the government refuses to end fuel adjustments or reduce prices...even though variations in fuel prices do not seem apparent
  • Sep4-2010-drone attacks kill 10 near miran shah and datakhel
  • Sep4-2010-In sindh floods from canal breaches inundated KN shah and moved towards three other small towns...
  • Sep4-2010-In the national assembly a harshly worded anti military resolution moved by the PMLn received teh support of the pathetically dubious natured PPP which apparently now pro military and still anti police also supported a divisive mqm resolution opposing corruption and feudalism...In other news altaf hussein was reffered to as karachis devil incarnate who had a long history of evil anti pakistanism and strange attitudes stretching back to 1988 when he moved the corruption oriented mohajirs to militancy and told them to sell indian film watching VCR's and buy kalashnikovs...he than went onto plan the seperation of karachi into urdistan...with 3000 armed and probably indian trained terrorists he started out by attacking punjabis and the military..than sindhis and than pukhtuns...he formed no go areas in which people are said to have been ruthlessly massacred...as the state challenged his militancy ruthlessly he was finally allowed to escape to england as groups started to hunt him down...his ethnically driven movement has continued with a steady stream of murders and polarisation driven policies...the almost pacifist barring sindhi issues asif zardari said that he could do nothing about teh negative evil thinking of anyone and that seperatism was also thought about in other areas of teh country...The PPP should at least have the courage to oppose secessionist organizations and tendencies...many suggest that teh PPP is attempting to use the mqm to restart corruption attacks on opponents...?
  • Sep4-2010-The sectarian natured lashkar e jhangvi claims quetta and lahore attacks as suicide bomb blowsup in a shiite organized political rally in quetta killing 56..TTP also asserts claims to teh blasts...In mardan a suicide blast took place at the entrance of an ahmedi jamatkhana..marking a countrwide upsurge of sectarian incidents as the TTP was pegged back in teh Fata...The TTP and LJ differ widely in sunni and religious perceptions but are together on forms of terrorism adopted for their religious objectives...while the TTP is more political and afghan/anti american oriented willing to attack military and civil objectives the LJ is anti shiite in orientation considering them non muslims and deviationists from standard islamic philosophies...
  • Sep4-2010--reports of marked/tainted payment money recovered from salman butts belongings...bowlers say salman butt and kamran akmal ordered them to ball no balls...suggesting they recieved 4000 pounds each for bowling the no balls...many suggest that salman butt feeling that his career was almost over fell for the sting like operation...would a crook layout the money he was being paid spread out on a table tobe photographed...?
  • Sep3-2010--IMF orders continuation of crush the people economics of higher prices and no development
  • Sep3-2010--more problems in sindh as water enters khairpur nathan shah...indus highway cutoff from sindhs right bank upper areas..larkana already cutoff from jacobabad and kashmore
  • Sep3-2010--pakistan has withdrawn three players involved in the no balls scandal from the england cricket tour after being charged ...a news of the world reporter paid a players go between pounds 150000 for the information...it seems ludicrous and how teh News of the world got hold of 150000 pounds seems odd...while salman butt is an ordinary player with an average around 30 the two bowlers are the best that pakistan has produced in recent times
  • Sep3-2010--just days ago altaf hussein was blowing hot and cold against the taleban the only potential revolutionaries in pakistan...however after realizing that the pakistan government had been fighting taleban for almost a decade he shifted his attacks to the jagirdars...the landed aristocracy of pakistan who form most of the rulers ie the pir-wadera biradri...however days into the anti jagirdari tirade he shifted to suggesting that he was going to mount a revolution and the people and beaurocrats had better support him or else...the jagirdars apparently to be hanged in some karachi chowk...while the army allowed altaf hussein to escape to london alongwith the other tyrant musharaf he said no jagirdar will be allowed to escape...and he apparently lives in england frightened of allah and wears designer suits and has contacts with the pakistani ministry of interior...an unlikely revolutionery at best......apparently the jocular responses started immediately...one of which is jaldi kar altaf shuru karo baghawat...fransisi ya angrezi ya roosi...(he apparently suggested a french revolution in which the king was guilllotined...we donot know if zardari is the king or yusuf or the army chief...so altaf will probably have to guillotine all three ...?)...if u reach surjani town the jagirdars will join u...altaf hussein apparently perturbed by the poor sindhi versions of the jagirdar community sitting on bunds or high ground...hungry and downtrodden and disheveled...he should realize that many of them were jagirdars too...the 16 and 12 acre kind...however we learn that the airforce has all the coordinates of teh mqm leadership homes and they will be bombed on the first day of his supposed revolution...good luck altaf...in pakistan all revolutionaries usually end up dead...lets see how many support u after your first shout...vive la freedom...
  • Sep2-2010--In what could even have been a PPP orchestrated event given their anti punjab nature a remembrance day shiite procession was bombed at three places in lahore killing 27...the irresponsible natured processionists than burnt vehicles and a police station...a lashkar a jhangvi related organisation claimed responsibility...given the situation in teh country rallies, processions whether religious oriented or political should be banned...since protection of large gatherings is an impossibility...a similar procession in karachi was fired upon...given the irresponsible nature of both shiite and sunni groupings the government should ban all religious natured processions...political and religious freedoms can only work in a peaceful country and given the experiences in iran, the west and pakistan religions would have tobe suppressed until peace is restored even in relative terms...
  • Sep2-2010--government says that there have been $43 billion in flood losses but they will do nothing to alleviate commodity shortages and check price hikes...government is allowing prices tobe hiked in the sugar, petroleum and electricity spheres despite teh problems that are being generated due to its terrible economic policies...
  • Sep2-2010--sindh areas still facing flood problems due to breaches in the MNV drain
  • Sep2-2010--SC fires NAB prosecutor general and asks government to appoint new NAB chairman
  • Sep2-2010--15 militants killed in Kurram airstrikes
  • Sep1-2010--The 18th amendment case is boiling down to the methods of appointment of judges...putting in a parliamentary committee and a commission or the old method of reccomendations by the CJ's...the new system will just add political wrangling to the process and like teh old system is not expected to give us better judges...teh assembly obviously can amend but not on a wholesale level and judges too should not make teh same mistakes they made in the past when they approved military chiefs takeovers and in one case even gave the military chief three years to rule...obviously changing teh basic character of the constitution seems to matter little as the PPP seems to want to rule whichever way it pleases...the president going on foreign tours and interfering in foreign affairs and financial matters is unconstitutional...the same way the primeminister actually being a front for a group of advisors is also unconstitutional..is the actual primeminister a mere advisor..similarly making advisors defacto ministers is also apparently unconstitutional...
  • Sep1-2010--Yusuf Raza Gilani has apparently failed to have the PPP secretary general replaced by a personal sycophant...?
  • Sep1-2010--government threatening to impose flood taxes on imports and income...
  • Sep1-2010--sindh still dealing with flood threats in some areas despite most of the flood waters having flowed into the ocean...

how bhuttos got into politics in 1958...

debacle in Dacca

debacle in Dacca
total humiliation...India had steadily destabilized east pakistan over twenty years playing on ethnic, financial, development and military concerns...pakistan was not that rich at that time and the ethnicists played on phsychosis generated by cyclones, floods, tea and jute...the army and west pakistani politicians could not accept a bengali dominated government and a small army contingent could not defend against the mukti bahini and the indians as teh US withdrew its support as usual...When teh going gets tough teh US chickens out as usual...!! The indians have continued teh same themes in karachi, sindh and balochistan but similar tougher responses have not allowed their success although pakistan is now at best a divided land with a pathetic center...!!While it left pakistan numb at the time many now feel the seperation was a proper solution as east pakistanis did not get along with pakistan and they would be better able to solve their problems with india...others still pine away for the lost land of rivers, tea and jute...others suggest that india should handover kashmir in exchange...while some still want to repatriate those considered pakistanis and left stranded in bangladeshi camps...others however heave a sigh of relief as teh problems with the remaining provinces are generally insoluble.....and ethnic regionalism or provincialism mixed with economic and racial nonsense is not a pleasant mode of politics anyway...
