• Jan30-2011--In another major shock move the government increases rail and freight charges by 20%...price hikes, tax hikes, salary hikes, revenue expansions,foreign exchange fluctuations, foreign and local loans all contribute to inflation and making the life of teh people miserable...many suggest that the government explain what it is using tax revenues for when it is making do by making everything more expensive...politicians and beurocrats many say need to realize that it is they who are failing and not anything else...the people pay all the taxes that are imposed on them many of them completely unfair apart from advance taxes and they expect that teh government provide services at reasonable rates...if teh goovernment cant stop needless spending than it should step down.. nawaz sharif many say should realize that the PPP will drag him down with them if he is going to remain associated with their policies...This is the result of pampering state sector workers with shares, 50% salary enhancements and a terrible NFC methinks...? yusuf gilani, zardari and kaira to repair the 150 locomotives rather than the mughalpura workers...egypt, tunisia... anyone could be better than gilani, zardari, kaira...!!!

• Jan28-2011--many are mocking the indian nature of PPP interior minister rehman malik who says that india has reduced terrorism in pakistan from afghanistan and their five consulates on the pakistani border in afghanistan donot matter...The indian foreign minister has openly suggested that the indians are still involved in anti pakistan activities and detente does not mean much unless the indians offer real solutions on problems such as kashmir.....if pakistan had five consulates on the bangladesh and nepal border than that could be a comparable situation....

• Jan28-2011--overcharging by the government in electricity charges is quite apparent as monthly fuel adjusts show a small half rupee depreciation for electricity costs per unit..since fuel costs for electricity are declining there seems tobe little reason for increasing petroleum prices as that will again cause a round of further price hikes..government attempts to suggest that Nepra is actually a electricity price regulation authority rather than a rubber stamp like parliament and the cabinet are not very successful...
  
• Jan28-2011--The governments efforts to prove that there was an open house for politics failed again as they did in the gabol, JUI-F and kazmi cases...as the quettta provincial government restricted shahzain bugti to quetta for 90 days to thwart his march to dera bugti...the army and the PPP have restricted the bugti chieftains from returning or living in Dera Bugti
  
• Jan28-2011--17 days into the deadline the government team at talks with the PMLn is still talking of increasing taxes and price hikes...apparently they are suggesting a Rs10 hike in petroleum prices...since there are enough resources for the do nothing PPP regimes plans nawaz sharif is getting ready for a complete split in the punjab as well and teh PPP obviously will attempt to match his power grab in the punjab where shabaz sharif is seen as a reluctant spender...since the federal program of development is seen as non existent people still wonder where teh money is going...and why the federal regime is griping about money matters...the governments efforts to develop multan and lahore only is already having negative effects and the popularity of both the PPP, PMLn and mqm is tottering at best...
  
• Jan28-2011--In lahore a controversial US consulate employee shoots dead two motorcyclists who he says were threatening to kill him...another US consular vehicle jumps a median and crashes into another motorcyclist killing him too..newspaper reports suggest that said employee had earlier also been stopped by police from attempting to enter the cantonement...reports suggest he got out of the vehicle and approached motorcyclists at a lights intersection and shot them dead as they drew their pistols...
  
• Jan27-2011--from BMW's zardari has shifted to supporting the import of five year old cars...another plank probably from the ANP manifesto...the ANP also want the reluctant ethnicists the mqm to consider the pukhtuns as fellow citizens in karachi...probably the mohajirs worry that when karachi becomes independent they still wont get anything as the pukhtuns will steal everything...apparently the AIG sindh reported that the war against the pukhtuns could not end because the pukhtuns just keep coming...

• Jan25-2011--altaf hussein isolated in london calls for a martial law in punjab against his own coalition partner due apparently to two non political incidents...if karachi cannot be put under martial law and nwfp than punjab is still not what many say in disarray totally...however one sees the possibility of karachi being handed over to teh areas corp commander to clean out the riff raff...in this system operations can be ordered if the insurgency is apparent and unsolvable as in karachi...a martial law can only be ordered in the whole country theoretically and many feel that the military has had enough of politics since they have never been able to solve anything...

• Jan25-2011--The primeminister told the national assembly that gabol and altaf hussein are both mischief makers in his coalition and both from karachi...apparently asif zardari was on a private vist to the USA and the beurocrat who had issued the new Exit list including gabol was not identified...gilani obviously acting alongwith qaim ali shah literally victimized Gabol until he quickly came back to the fold...knowing which side of the toast is buttered seems hard to identify these days...?he also took back the orders for the luxury oriented MNA lodges extension...saying only Rs400 million were allocated for them and not 3 billion...gillani sure does not seem to understand money...many say PPP economists think the pakistan economy is similar to the USA's!!
