• Jul28-2012--the army reasserted its and american influence as retired lt gen asif yasin malik was made defence secretary in place of Gilani favorite Nargis Sethi...recent negotiations with americans have shown teh paucity of civilian negotiators as most of teh team seemed to consist of army officers...yasin malik until recently corp commander peshawar where he was unable to control teh taleban war mongering had said that we donot retaliate against american intruders because they are our allies...recent behaviour of the US congress has destroyed any thinking that americans are in any way our allies...we just seem tobe fighting the taleban and sending the bills to the US...many feel that pakistan is even frightened to cross the afghan border to takeon militants grouped in various afghan areas...
• Jul28-2012--The rubberstamp parliament up in arms over SC criticism that they do not have a sufficient check on teh executive and are making bad unconstitutional laws...one lawyer called teh contempt law absurd suggesting that the legislature had no knowledge of values..Chaudhry Nisar said barring violence there was no way to stop the PPP from making negative legislation...many people point to the puppets like nature of teh MQM, ANP, PMLq as teh cause of the PPP's unbridled nature in governance...

• Jul27-2012--The SC registrar who had earlier gone out of his way to suggest that the CJ had not met teh Bahria town chief on the arsalan matter now finds himself embroiled in using his identity to find information from foreign firms about teh arsalan travels...he however refused to appear on teh issue to teh JIT and said that somebody else used his identity who has not been identified...the SC which is hearing arsalans review ordered NAB to continue its investigation although they suggested that they should not investigate the SC registrar but also investigate Salman son in law of riaz malik...The court seems tobe restricting NAB in one matter but not on the issue of investigating arsalan for corruption...
• Jul27-2012--with govermental credibility falling steadily and teh ANP and mqm unable to stop violence in karachi...the mqm and ANp who can at best be regarded as PPP stooges going for an all party conference...the only major parties not in government are teh PMLn, PTI and JI so teh measure can at best be described as meaningless...people are already pointing to the ANp's nasty attacks on the judiciary in teh national assembly and the SC seemingly backing out into an almost toothless tiger on the contempt law......

• Jul26-2012--The government won a reprieve as teh SC seems tobe backing out of declaring the contempt law ultravires despite inconsistencies with teh constitution...the constitution does not provide immunity from contempt to anyone...and teh concept of a stay of judgement on appeal in contempt cases is also unconstitutional...without the contempt law being suspended the SC cannot adjudicate clearly in the NRO case...however Justice Khosa who said he was a friend of teh AG asked the government to change track and solve teh issue...the contempt law was passed in 67 minutes which cannot happen in teh US congress where even one legislator can stymy the passing of any bill while constitutional amendments have tobe passed by all state legislatures too...the SC CJ also asked why the opposition walks out of the national assembly as it never happens in the US congress...walkouts signal two things that teh government is not consulting teh opposition or the parliamentary party does not want to associate itself with the bill and opposes party instructions...the pakistan legislature does not have methods in place to stop/block dictatorial passages of bills or teh budget and that is the only way open to the opposition...one judge who apparently has talked to asif zardari on teh swiss cases was asked to step down by the AG which the judge said was mere obstructionism and urged the AG should quickly define the concepts of a possible razinama before Eid...That leaves the raja probably enjoying an eid in the primeminister house...!!

• Jul25-2012--CJ says contempt law has expanded the concept of immunity and killed article 63-1g...as a lawyer argued that teh law was ultravires and a judge said that now government functionaries will thumb their noses at us...many suggest that with the PPP increasingly looking like a corrupt orgnization the judges will be hard put to give a judgement that solves the situation without harsh measures...one aspect is declaring status quo ante ie suspending or declaring the new contempt law ultravires and than disqualifying raja ashraf even though he is a little better thought of than gilani at this stage...however since that has not solved teh issue they could go for forming a commission to independently deal with teh issue...however that would put the gilani judgement at risk...at most if teh courts accept teh new definition of immunity than they would have to declare the law minister and law secretary who theoretically advizes on such matters as being in contempt and thus disqualified...It would need extreme perseverence from teh judges to write a clear and forthright judgement in both cases...the easiest many suggest would be to declare the contempt law ultravires and disqualify raja ashraf together...

• Jul25-2012--The primeminister again says he is not bound by court decisions and has to only follow beaurocratic instructions...In an application to the SC he refuses to write a letter to the swiss courts to recover corruption related assets...he also seems to refuse to implement the NRO verdict in its entirety...The application was returned by teh SC suggesting that they could only file reviews to SC orders or decisions of June 27 and July 12...The government now to file a review...in related news Asif Zardari has received substantial funds from his son which he has invested apparently in Nakamura securities...many suggest that the swiss assets should now theoretically be under teh control of Bilawal Zardari...teh swiss courts had reached a verdict that teh Zardaris had received around 1.1 million dollars in corruption kickbacks...which was later overturned and when teh NRO came the than AG flew to switzerland and ended the swiss cases...when in turn the NRO was overturned the courts expected teh government to reinitiate the swiss cases which they refused to do...the courts instead of using contempt should directly takeover teh implementation of teh NRO as teh government of teh PPP is complicit in teh corruption in its entirety...

• Jul24-2012--The judges question the parliamentary attempt to direct teh judiciary on fair comment which is not even regarded as contempt these days..teh judges also object to insertions in teh constitution without teh mandatory two thirds majority...teh CJ also stymied government lawyers from seeking a two week delay for preparing their defence..the judges said that their concern is not contempt but to have the courts decisions implemented...

• Jul23-2012--while teh multan seat is different to an extent teh PTI and PMLn dont seem to want direct cooperation in teh next elections as it affects their political stands...however cooperation can defeat on seats where individually they dont want to fight like teh PMLn and the PTI which is not ready to walk teh hustings before teh elections......many suggest that seperate the bigger parties might benefit teh PMLn rather than teh PPP and coalitions can always be worked out in the assemblies...however with teh niche position of teh PMLq both teh PMLn and teh PTI could benefit from cooperating on specific seats...where neither could win..teh PMLn should focus on knocking out teh PMlq which could be formidable on certain seats with PPP cooperation..there have been widespread rumours of the PMLn having supported the PMlq in many bye elections while teh PTI many say has been supporting teh PPP in the seraiki areas...!!!...where both regard themselves as strong they can challenge each other...mostly such cooperation will obviously take place behind teh scenes...seats can easily be divided as there are many seats in the punjab both in teh provincial and national assemblies...or the PMLn could go for the national assembly and support teh PTI on teh provincial assemblies or vice versa...and than there are the local bodies...
• Jul23-2012--15 die in Orakzai air strikes...a food deptt official shot dead in quetta...surgeon kidnapped in mastung...gas pipeline blownup near quetta... malik riaz of Bahria Town provides evidence to teh arsalan extortion JIT committee of NAB...suggesting that other family members of teh CJ also benefited and that only when arsalan's demands became unjustified didt he inform teh CJ about six months a ago...?
• Jul23-2012--The PPP has always going back to even benazir bhutto thought of themselves as chief executives rather than humane decent effective humble decision makers...while raja ashraf has teh right to make decisions most have already been made eg. the budget which is teh prerogative of teh assemblies...other decisions are teh right of teh ISI and army chiefs...while who goes to jail or home permanently is teh right of the judiciary...it is this right of the judiciary to decide criminal wrongdoing that raja ashraf wants to challenge...while he can make decisions both teh national assembly and teh judiciary can challenge them in different ways...with teh assemblies almost a rubber stamp it is only teh judiciary that is left to resolve right and wrong...that is where teh PPP is falling into teh judiciaries trap on both legislation and other decision making...a decision can be right or wrong or criminal and teh judiciary it is that decides that and sends the raja's to jail or as some say even the guillotine...our weak controlled and at times activist judiciaries have made many decisions of that sort and raja should accept that teh peaceful sort are more acceptable than teh guillotine sort...go home if u donot want to deal with corruption says teh Judiciary as they themselves also get embroiled in extortion and associated antics...
• Jul21-2012--the general impression is that load shedding is focused on unimportant areas even in bigger cities with priority given to industrialists, army and influential people...with teh PPP government least interested in solving or even ameliorating teh problems of most domestic consumers...eg. they donot realize that hydel generation will not solve teh problems as it is only effective in specific periods...and teh government is unable to control dam water usage...there have been reports that grid system engineers have been demanding payments to stop or reduce load shedding but the shortfalls are still too extensive for them to use them as methods of corruption...many feel that controlling industrial usage is teh key to ending load shedding...
• Jul21-2012--Yusuf Gilani who supposedly only focused on teh development of multan and seperating seraiki areas from punjab apparently spent every weekend in lahore and did not meet his constituents in multan...even than PPP voters voted for his son...says teh Daily dawn...The PPP has developed a negative attitude towards its supporters and generally PPP leaders only care for their own families...many also now think that PPP has a stubborn negative attitude towards the solution of problems...

• Jul20-2012--Qadir Gilani involved in a hajj corruption case wins yusuf Gilanis multan seat after they broke several PMLn supporters and relied heavily on teh shiite and rural vote...The independent opposition candidate did much better than expected and teh pro corruption Gilanis at best barely sqeaked thru...many commentators said the teh PMLn support for Gilani had been crucial during teh last four years and refused to support teh supposedly PTI candidate...others talked of literally daily visits to multan and forced development expenditures on multan at teh expense of punjab's other areas...many suggested that new EC measures to limit utilization of transport in city areas might have hurt teh generally better organized PMLn and JI...

• Jul19-2012--tribal jirga refuses to allow polio campaign as they say it is less deadly than drone attacks...hafiz gul bahadur group of taleban imposed the polio ban...government requests that it would create problems for north waziristan's 162000 children were rejected until drone attacks stop...teh government seems to have no policy on drone attacks but many see them as directed by asif zardari and they will probably only stop when taleban stop fighting the pakistan army and stop killings and terrorist attacks...in fata and other parts of teh country...
