Jun29-2023--the IMF standby agreement is just as poisonous as the EFF arrangement earlier...instead of releasing the $1.2 billion tranche IMF said its staff had signed a new $3 billion one year standby agreement...given the fuss they raise about everything it is not going tobe easy for the government to get even $500 million without giving some already expensive tariffs..so the heaves of relief are going to fade away as they take more of our earnings for nothing as far as people are concerned...

Jun27-2023--ISPR says that trials of 102 underway and that several military officers have been diciplined over their handling of the riots...three officers including a lt.gen have been removed while disciplanry action completed against three major generals and seven brigadiers..they say that most was based on prior planning and continuous vindictive propaganda spread specifically by PTI influencers and imran...the military did not understand the imran nasty invective and did not put in place simple procedures to protect the perimeters of their installations...some military officers just left their offices...

Jun26-2023--NA passes bill to maximize the disqualification period of politicians to five years...while there is no period mentioned in articles 62(1)(f) and 63 the SC ruled that disqualification would be for life...two key politicians that need this help include Nawaz Sharif and Jehangir Tareen...The bill also includes the provision that the ECP can decide poll date without consulting the president...the disqualification period is probably going to be challenged in court ..Nawaz Sharif apparently came alive and landed in Dubai to see if he could get some things going while on the way to Hajj...the budget also contains a provision to give mna's 1600 cc cars instead of 1200cc
Jun 26-2023--in a budget which seems cosmetic given the situation revenues forecast at Rs9.415 trillion and expenditures at Rs14.48 trillion...the federal government just cannot sustain provincial share of Rs5.39 trillion...an increase in revenues by 28% would be difficult given that it is an election year with a possible change of govt....government seeking massive increase in exports and a IMF handout too for which some minor changes have been made...There are five days to go before the IMF deal ends...the govt caved in to IMF demands which include withdrawal of an amnesty on remittances, also ended import curbs , increase in BISP by 16 billion, raise in petroleum levy to Rs60 and some cosmetic tax changes......at the moment exports, FDI and remittances are sinking. More than $4 billion in import consignments require clearance when government reserves are around that...consumption of petrol has fallen drastically. Government talking to Islamic development bank to maximize its $4 billion portfolio to sustain low foreign exchange reserves...
inflation is not effected by monetary policy as the key factors are dollar rate, petroleum prices, electricity tariffs...eg...a suzuki swift now costs around 35-40 lakhs...the above two graphs are from an IBA ad of their school of economics and social sciences showing that projected inflation will possibly come down to normal in 2025-2026 and u can see the sudden sharp rise in 2024 budget outlay...which is probably due to higher interest payments...
Jun23-2023--technically estimates suggest that there were 209 pakistani passengers aboard the immigrant ship that sank...June 23-2023--The differences between the SC judges surface again in the petitions against civilian trials under the Army Act...two judges rose from the nine member bench...Isa said that the nine member bench was not a proper court ...Bandial who has tried to stamp his authority on the court has found it difficult ...going against Isa on a number of issues...under a new law the trials under 184(3) have to be first presented to a three member senior bench...The Army Act has been in force since 1952 and declaring it invalid for trying civilians will be difficult since civilians have been tried under it before ...in the present case the PTi juggernaut deliberately attacked specific military installations in a planned manner..they even had a propaganda saying that a policeman bit a women when she attacked the GHQ...women were not specifically seen at the GHQ site...!imran also stated in his usual lies that PTI women were raped in the lahore jail which was denied by the women activsts...technically they would have to declare the Army Act unconstitutional as everyone has a similar right to trial so it cannot be differentiated between army men and civilians...

Jun22-2023--Shebaz says that the SIFC will be tasked to raise FDI to around $5 billion which is now at $1.32 billion..most FDI comes from china...and usually more flows out than in...since most of the FDI goes into stocks it does not generate any real economic activity...Pakistans economy is hampered by huge tariffs for domestic users and subsidized to industry, army and agriculture...cotton production is temperamental and growing of things like lentils and oilseeds should be encouraged...export of milk and milk products could be encouraged...
Jun 22-2023--government trying to get central asia countries to somehow use Gawadar for LNG shipments...getting the gas to gawadar would be a huge exersize and only pipelines could solve the problem..otherwise LNG rankers transporting thru afghanistan would be problematic anyway...building pipelines in the area has been a big failure upto now...

Jun19--2023-- greek boat tragedy of illegal migrants attempting to move to europe...hundreds have died in which 400 are said to be pakistanis...FIA which has a fully staffed section dealing with illegal migration/human traffickers arrests some sub agents saying main agents maybe in europe...at least 12 pakistanis survived..the boat/trawler was probably out of fuel and water and as they say dead in the water and nobody came to the rescue from the greek side at least for six seven days...reports that payments of upto 2.5 million each made by each migrant seem exxagerated...most pakistanis came from kotli, mandi bahauddin and gujerat and were concentrated in a few villages...The FIA which is otherwise very active should have been able to block such migration...they should ask banks to inform when huge amounts are withdrawn in rural areas...or those prone to migration
