• May15-2019--Imran Khan is turning the economy into a mongrel of various names and mixtures and no clear directions...at the moment he is mixing the PPP's BISP and the PMLn black money-amnesty/IMF...he also does not know what to do with the dollar..let it float for his few expatriates or control it for the countries people...he is continuing to go after 10-12 billion dollars in loans annually...with no development schemes barring some charity processes he is looking like a mongrel that growls at everything...his mixed race team team has just announced an amnesty scheme aimed at foreign wealth...proposing to whiten it at 4%...coming at the end of his first economic year it seems that he wants his crooked pushtuns to bring in another 100 billion in revenues some how...undisclosed assets, sales, expenditures can be whitened and cash must be in the bank before it can be declared...Hafeez Sheikh says it is meant to document the economy...unless it is in the hundreds of billions it hardly matters...documentation is meant to ease revenues and tax collections...so if it is below a 100 billion a few extra billions in taxes hardly matter...methinks they think that those who have run undocumented economies for ages are surely not going tobe attracted unless they stand tobe listed as the countries real billionaires...whatever he does he and Dr.Firdous(technically a quack) blames it on the previous regime

• May13-2019--The government reaches an agreement with the IMF which contains what had already been aired...technically the government has been knocked out by the IMF...the government to raise energy prices, raise taxes and reduce subsidies to the tune of Rs600 billion and not interfere with exchange rates...energy subsidies are given to the industrial, agricultural and armed forces...the people only use a small portion of the energy and most is wasted by the government, army, industry and agricultural users...according to my information domestic users only use 30% of the electricity and might be a bit more of gas resources in winter...putting the load on domestic users will only make the government unpopular...the same vested interests work to raise exchange rates which causes further losses to the people...making the government lose all control can only be said to be negative in terms of popularity and effectiveness...the government is hiding behind IMF policies which are actually its own unpopular policies...successive governments have used the IMF to implement policies that they cannot do so themselves...The people are used to this... it is only new for the PTI...many feel that Imran Khan referred to the armed forces as a white elephant...!one other clause which is similar to most IMF agreements is the unimplementable one to reduce subsidies to loss making state enterprises...and reduce military budgets...The $6 billion that the IMF will provide over 39 months will be subject to IMF approvals of PTI policies...if there is any difference to previous IMF agreements than the PTI can publish past agreements to compare with their own...

• May11-2019--As expected the new FBR chief took to the ground running to help out his rich pals...his first step was to issue an order that there would be no attachment of anybodies accounts unless he was informed and not a day after the defaulter has been informed...a day after the defaulter won't have any money in his account...before the taxmen had to seek approval from one of the commissioners...!it seems Imran Khans rich pals are the same as Shabbar Zidis rich clients...!
  
• May11-2019--Imran Khan like his predecessor Asad Umar seems to have no knowledge about inflation...inflation is calculated in the present and not on the past...and most of the reasons are the present PTI's policies...when a small pack of imported sweets becomes Rs100 more expensive that definitely is your concern and your policy that is causing it...when fruits and vegetables, sugar and atta become expensive than you Imran Khan are doing something wrong...if you are going to raise salaries, make the dollar expensive, seek foreign loans than you are causing inflation...when more money chases fewer goods and services than it causes inflation...you have to decide if you think that inflation is good or bad...maybe you have not studied that yet...!better ask your advisors and reza bakir and shabbar zaidi to explain that to you...

• May07-2019--Almost a year into his government Imran Khan is still shaping his economic team...The only constant seems to tobe Younis Dhagga the finance secretary who may now be in control...he has brought in an egyptian sounding Reza Baqir as State Bank governor and a sindhi faced syed shabbar zaidi as FBR chief...both seem tobe shiite...Zaidis supposedly come from the Yemeni houthis...If the government wants to raise revenues it will have to substantially raise taxes as well as announce new taxes...at the moment the revenues have shown only a 3% rise this year...The WB mistakenly thinks that the Pakistan government can broaden the tax base by 50%...bringing in a modest auditor to handle the rough and tumble tax collection system seems to be a gamble at best...the knowledge of Shabbar is of top corporations and rich investors who usually do pay their taxes...what he knows about tax collection is hard to gauge...Expecting an IMF official to control the dollar, control fiscal deficit and debt repayments thru innovative policies might be a difficult task...as far as i know Reza Baqir seems to have the experience to function as a policy making secretary finance but he might not be able todo much at the State Bank which only decides a few matters..in days gone by the annual statement of the State Bank used tobe a treatise on the countries economy but nowadays there foremost task is usually mopping up available rupees from the banking market...
  
• May05-2019--Imran khans economics seems tobe to sell everything to the Dawoods and build a few tourist resorts...earning $40 billion from tourism is almost impossible...at the moment the country has only one or two or a few tourists...The only way to control the economy is to reduce daily expenditure especially in the military domain...reduce excess allocations to provinces and reduce ordinary federal expenditures...if you can't run state enterprises than sell the ones that are in total loss...selling the ones that are profitable will make no difference...Turkey has a huge tourist potential because it is near all of europe and tourist boats can visit in the hundreds daily...there is no tourism potential in the pooorish asian countries and most tourists come from europe, japan and USA... and the largest number of world tourists come from China...i don't think many tourists visit switzerland...! tourism is a standardized field...and the most popular destinations are Maldives, Nepal,Cairo, Seychelles, Rome and Bali amongst specialized places...The other popular desinations are paris, london, new york, bangkok, singapore, Tokyo, Dubai, macao, Hongkong, istanbul, kuala lumpur...this is just for Imran Khans information...hilly difficult places are specialist tourism areas...if you have good hotels in skardu, hunza and gilgit that can house 10000 tourists per day than it might work...tourists seem to like developed places which technically have a lot to do...the potential i see is say 1000-2000 per day for all the key places...which does not translate into billions...concentrate on pakistani expatriates...

• May04-2019--The government is reccomending a petrol price hike of around 10-14% or Rs.110 approximately...technically there has been no hike in world crude prices...many suggest that it is an effort to raise more revenues thru indirect taxes...OPEC basket of crude prices is around $70 with a high of $74 in April...petrol prices should be around Rs.70 plus 35%...that comes to around Rs.95...so it is not due to the dollar hike either...
  
• May04-2019--The State Bank governor has resigned...while the FBR chief has been removed...now all the top three Finance related positions have been removed barring the Finance secretary...Imran Khan thinks he has been hiring top level people for his non elected positions...most are mostly sycophants and have little experience for their jobs...Imran Khan things that firing people will get his cabinet to work and people will think him a big shot...his finance minister was actually removed for saying that Imran Khan is a nobody and actually he is the big shot...many think that Jehangir Tareen has also been sidelined for holding similar views...one of his close financial advisors is in jail in england for misappropriating funds...
  
• May04-2019--PMLn appoints ex pm Abbasi as PMLn senior vice president and he will probably do Shahbaz Sharifs job who many suggest has skipped overseas after some sort of agreement with Imran Khan...The SC has however denied any further relief to Nawaz Sharif as he did not need any medical assistance and probably has just been given an additional anti depression pill...Nawaz Sharif is supposed to go back into custody on May7..

• May03-2019--Imran Khan really doesnt get it...all the primeministers did what he is trying to do...the first thing they did after becoming primeminister was to wear the afghan tribal headdress and made a speech to a tribal audience...things were different than as the tribals were an autonomous region and were ruled by the center...even nawaz sharif and shaukat aziz made speeches to the tribes since the center had really no other areas that they controlled...now however imran khan is carrying things to far as he and the army chief are playing politics in provincial territory...the only challenge they have is the mild attempts of Bilawal and mullah fazlurrehman...why dont they tell the PPP that there language is unbecoming or below the belt when they threaten to breakup the country...are they afraid of them and not of the PTM...The road to Tirah was built long ago when the country was ruled by his predecessors and when it and many areas in Orakzai were nogo areas
