April25, 2022--there are sudden outbreaks of anti shiite violence in Afghanistan but the country is generally calm...many analyse that as some sunni getting angry somewhere or anti sunni behaviour of governments...other suggest pakistani military involvements..however over in pakistan there are almost constant incidents of army-TTP violence...it is seen as TTP inspired but many point out the weaknesses of the army and the constabulary here especially in tribal areas... but the people only remember the past

April25, 2022--The current government is stumbling into the PTI economic mess and is deeply dependent on the courts to right or wrong things in politics...case in point the seven year old foreign funding case...first they said announce results in a month...today they suspended that decision... Hamza Shebaz too is suspended as the LHC reluctantly avoided giving a decision ...a countrywide diesel shortage maybe developing in anticipation of the whopping petroleum price rises...they say there are sufficient stocks and sufficient cargoes in the harbour....... the key is probably the electricity shortages and petroleum prices mess...if they raise petroleum/electricity prices and the taxes on them prices will skyrocket...any input from the IMF will not solve the problem...IMF will wait till the May meeting to see their performance...while electricity shortages are solvable again it is the problems of supply shortages and the costs especially of LNG and FO and distribution policies...so the government has to cut spending somewhere or raise petroleum taxes...however the government is apparently load shedding upto 18 hours in kunda areas(or where people do not pay bills)and any where from 6-10 hours in other areas...restarting shutdown power plants even new ones is difficult and time consuming...with capacity charges having tobe paid the high cost private plants probably get a life...they had allowed two new plants designed for LNG to shift to gas so they could be sold...i think that did not happen...the government should quickly decide which plants to restart and arrange fuel for them...or wait for a couple of months for the dams inflows to increase...dams usually fill up around August and make them useless in early summer or stop agricultural outflows and let them fill a bit early

April24, 2022--It seems clear that the government is again going to follow miftah/IMF views on petroleum prices and other tariffs...such actions usually have widespread negative consequences and effects...if the price of petroleum is brought to previous normals than it could shoot upto Rs230-250 per liter and have negative effects on prices and the feelings of the people...just following crude prices would lift petrolprices to around Rs170...per liter
April 24, 2022--Miftah says they will increase petroleum prices despite shehbaz's present reluctance...USA welcomes NSC statement on no foreign conspiracy behind Imran removal...the new government seems quite reasonable now and PTI wala's have canceled their london/russia tickets...hopefully they will not go on a electricity/petroleum price hike...development can be restricted to hydel projects only and some road being repaired or improved..solving some social and tribal problems maybe more important in the long run...subsidies largely for the rich and affluent industries/textiles /exporters can be done away...but most things like electricity/gas tariffs and petroleum prices and prices of food and medicines and dollar effect everybody...imran by doing away electricity slabs destroyed the middle class and by raising the maximum price kicked everyone in the butt...Miftah had better worry about being seen as a senseless Imran lookalike who can be easily be replaced by other economists who think about the people...Imran only realized that he had destroyed his support in the last few months and his attempts to reduce the maximum price of electricity was too late...nepra however is already working against the government which needs to end Nepra and NAB ? Nobody really wants the PTI crooks back...! but support does not last long when the people are generally unhappy...not much can be said about the well fed military and i would suggest that replacing military chiefs every three years is beneficial to governments...a new army chief will have different and maybe more realistic views...maybe reducing the government term to three years could be the only answer...!

April23, 2022--The dubious letter turns out tobe a telegram by the ambassador in which he says that Donald Lu expressed reservations about relations if Imran survived the no trust...maybe he thought that the pakistan ambassador had some control over the situation...! the no trust had not been filed but was the next day...in my thinking if Imran had immediately gone for a vote on the notrust he might have survived...but he waited twenty days to suggest that Donald Lu was threatening him even though relations were already at a low ebb and the issue got dragged on until April7...The US State deptt has rejected the Imran viewpoint...however by than the opposition had gathered the necessary172 votes...i donot understand how both governments think that any interference was being carried out or was even intended...the PMLn however was more interested in clearing up the Imran allegations of a conspiracy between the opposition and the USA...with the USA being a greater power and Pakistan at best a puny one there is no particular interest in starting even a verbal fight and jumping into the iran-russia camp for good...we as every one knows wont fire a missile in retaliation at india or do a retaliatory air raid...now it is the imran camp that wants elections but the PMLn seems least interested...they hope the PTI will wear itself out and the people will eventually turn it into an anti-imran joke...some are suggesting that the PTI crowd will start shouting back...imran ko amreeka ne nikala...!methinks the ambassador should be retired as he is literally useless...other wise he will start destroying relations with the european union too...and one has to realize that the USA and the european union are our largest two importers! last year for what ever reason the USA imported $6 billion worth of pakistani goods...!
April21, 2022--Electricity consumption can almost be divided 50-50 with domestic-other users..government supposedly had a surplus of around 20% in winter..LNG cargoes which are now difficult to get and even more expensive are desperately needed..pakistan averages 8-10 cargoes per month but probably needs some say upto about two cargoes per day..however they seek around 14 cargoes per month with estimates of 30 cargoes by 2030...however prices have doubled due to recent problems in the international arena..hopefully by 2030 the countries bigger dams will have been completed to ease the summer situation

April21, 2022--Pakistans economy is being compared to that of Sri Lanka which has almost no reserves and has no fuel for electricity...Pakistan's new finance minister is off to washington for a new push to receive the remainders of the imran IMF deal...the IMF wants steep fiscal adjustment, a raise in petroleum prices which are apparently being subsidized to the tune of Rs150 billion per month...despite heavy increases in electricity tariff during the imran era the IMF still insists to more and more...they also want an end to subsidies for the rich...such as amnesties etc...resolution of the power sector circular debt...It also wants a decrease in the development budget...the load shedding in Rawalpindi is almost all day and all night at whatever hours suggesting that the government is backing off from ordering more fuel technically FO, coal, LNG etc. and the dollar has climbed back to Rs187...petrol would have tobe 21 rupees more expensive even without taxation...technically the IMF should refuse as the new government is already bound hand and foot..they have started some easing by reducing sugar prices at utility stores..otherwise the government can only achieve something by an austerity that imran could not implement...the government could also take other measures like decreasing pharma prices or allowing free meds and testing under the health cards...
April20, 2022--33 members of the coalition largely the PPP and the PMLN took oath...the PPP was earlier refusing to join the cabinet and demanding important constitutional posts...the MQMp also refused as did the JUI-F...The PPP also demanded ministries for the BAP, BNP and ANP...two posts ie the president and punjab are stuck as PTI men have not resigned from them...sindh and KP governors have resigned...mohsin dawar also not given a position while the BNP protested at the security forces firing in Chagai...Bilawal on the way to London apparently to meet Nawaz Sharif and protest about ministerial allocations..the Nawaz Sharif group has apparently been sidelined...

April16, 2022--this all started with Imran accusing the USA of organizing his removal...he thought that his removal was a ghaddari(or that nobody could remove him)...fortunately for the PMLn and opposition the SC overruled and the PTI lost the no trust...in the Punjab assembly where imran ahmed had removed Usman Ahmed and nominated Pervez elahi...again the longtime PTI dissidents Tareen and aleem khan groups split and joined the opposition which led to todays situation in the punjab assembly
April16, 2022--pervez elahi forced to leave assembly hall after an attack in which a PMLn leader mashud fell on him......earlier beatings and attacks led to police arrests and finally the deputy speaker appeared surrounded by police and started election proceedings from a gallery with a loud speaker..The PTI and the PMLq and probably four or five PMLn dissidents than walked out of the assembly...the speaker than started the election...PMLn, PPP and PTI groups supporting them are voting...The mayhem was apparently sparked by Pervez Elahi refusing to accept dost mohammed mazari( and the PTI's lota biradri who kept throwing around lotas) who had been ordered by the LHC to preside over the election...the deputy speaker refused to back down and ordered the police to arrest four of his attackers...The PTI zeal in attacking the speaker was almost criminal in intent...
Apr16,2022--Punjab riot police has entered the punjab assembly to restore order...since Pervez Elahi seems behind the riots and the rowdism he too could be under arrest...depending on the situation...The LHC has ordered the deputy speaker to hold the CM election...four rioters who attacked the speakers dias under arrest namely nadeem qureshi, wasiq abbasi, umer butt, ijaz ahmed ...deputy speaker has given punjab police the powers of the seargent at arms...bells ringing in the punjab assembly...
Apr16, 2022--In the Punjab assembly rowdism by the PTI caused the deputy speaker to run as the PTI workers attacked the speaker dias...with the PTI expected to lose the chief minister election they had nothing to lose by roughing up the deputy speaker...the speaker said he would not back down and would hold the session whenever he could on twitter...if imran ahmed does not call end to his rowdism the deputy speaker could expel or suspend the membership of the rowdy rioters...
Apr16, 2022--Shebaz Sharif set of at a fast pace as he started looking at the federal projects...In karachi he looked at K-IV and handed KCR to CPEC... the sindh government wants another 10 billion as they say donor funds will only come in 2023..Islamabad which has four or five projects two were shut down...he questioned why the Rawal overhead was not being completed and turned on the islamabad to airport metro...The PTI 's imran ahmed seemed unable to look at the working of a few projects having become what many say was a weak padishah type only working with people he liked and ignoring others...he seems to prefer being a psuedo maulvi type loud orator rather than getting things done.....Even in Rawalpindi they just kept quibling about two projects...Rawalpindi ring road, Leh flood avenue and kuchery overhead...they seem to have problems with contractors and were turning to the FWO... whatever he does Shebaz sees that projects are completed...
