The Daily PakistanPolitics-July13-2009
Jul13-2009--the government stumbling under its anti people policies seems unnerved enough to take on people who use teh internet to send ill motivated emails and sms warning of 14 year sentences rather than rectifiying its anti people policies...such emails have been used against military dictatorships and harsh and mean rulers and it seems that teh government has started to feel the barbs that are commonly transmitted...teh government has been behaving in a manner similar to a harsh military dictatorship...Jul13-2009--teh army destroying caves inhabited by militants in swat killing one militant...the army moving to control areas around south waziristan...moving into Tank and areas of lakki marwat and kulachi area of DI khan...bhittanis militants vacated Tank as the military moved in...planes continued to bomb baitullah bases in south waziristan killing eight as one soldier also died in an attack on a checpost...Jul13-2009--Yusuf raza gilani an unpopular person and who did not lead the PPP into elections is bent upon returning teh system to one dominated by a powerful primeminister...unless he is seen as a representative of the masses with popular policies such a system would not work...the PPP stuck with no real popular leader and basing its government on infighting between regional areas and a dictatorial economy having no attraction for teh awam...Jul13-2009--11 militants in landi kotal held for attacking nato terminalsJul13-2009--military claims having destroyed a car killing five apparently foreign militants in lower dirJul13-2009--The governments supposed economic wizards have been unable to explain things to teh IMF and the basically irrelevant IMF tranche is supposedly not going to make it..teh IMF apparently now wants a 31% higher electricity tariff rather than 17.7% and 20% higher diesel tariffs...teh governments team obviously has to realize that economics is just not about tariffs and macro economic ends only...the economic effects and the suffering of the people should be the main issues...teh people are already suffering and tariffs and diesel prices cannot be raised whatever the IMF thinks...teh government should control/reduce spending and that is teh only way out...grandiose projects for which teh people are being squeezed should be put on hold and the government should learn to live onits own resoures...The government should get out of teh shop keeping mentality where it raises teh rent and than hikes prices...Jul13-2009--nine killed in karachi in drive by shootingsJul13-2009--Another PMLn mpa gets into the red book...mpa shomaila rana accused of using stolen credit cards...asked to resign by PMLn...Jul13-2009--potatos fall to Rs33 per kilo from 44..tomato rises to Rs 42Jul13-2009--In a country where teh local government system changes with each dictatorship.. considering the present system also as a no people input system or anti people system the punjab provincial government says it will impose another system which supposedly removes its flaws...shabaz sharif seems bent upon imposing teh beaurocracy on teh people from which the last system had provided some respite...people remember teh magistracy when they used to approve firing and killing demonstrators and arrested and involved opposition politicians in prolonged courts casesJul13-2009--muzzafargarh and khanewal police chase a tea stall owner who refused to stop at a picket and shoots him dead...police have tobe told that terrorism is no reason to shoot at any person especially when teh person is unarmed...Jul13-2009--Dawn states that teh cronyistic zardari's logic of appointing a junior official as an ambassador to france who was a provincial livestock secretary is that he is supposedly friends with sarkozys brother and who says that he was just summoned to the presidency and appointed teh ambassador out of teh blue...!!Jul13-2009--JI chief says that government is expanding its war against taleban to karak, bannu and parts of punjabJul13-2009--Rehman malik says he wants to put up a barbed wire fence across teh long afghan border...he says we have 1000 checposts on teh border while teh americans have 60 and its makes no sense for anyone to be fighting on both sides of teh border...setting up even a barbed wire fence along teh length of teh border would be just as difficult as setting up a wall...
