Apr6-2026--The humungous crisis-ridden shabaz sharif petrol rates bring some things to mind..one should remember that diesel prices/production have been under pressure even before but have now skyrocketed...In europe which also uses almost 50-60% diesel.... diesel rates have risen 30% whereas in Pakistan they have skyrocketed to over Rs500 per liter...in rembrance in the 1960's a bustrip was Rs5 to Jhelum from Rawalpindi in old rickety and GTS buses on pot holed GT road..petrol was also Rs5 per gallon..Jump to the Yellow bus era of nawaz sharif in the1990's when even cabs became yellow and mercedes airconditoned buses were imported the bus rate rose to jhelum..Rs80..and now the petrol shortage era of Shabaz Sharif the bus rate to jhelum is Rs820-850 or more with the dubious sharif subsidies considered more political than any workable solution...one notices that the people are forgotten totally in this economics and perhaps they can travel in the railways which are subsidised same rate for three months...buses too have changed and one sees more developed motorways and chinese fast yutong hybrid/electric buses going along at 120kph...a yutong manufacturing factory also setup at karachi while buses are imported from china for metros, intercity and local routes...In punjab's maryam nawaz era airconditioned EV buses being introduced on all city busroutes at Rs20..In the mid-1960's one could go from Lalkurti to the foreign office in islamabad on a double decker bus for paisa seventy-five and a seat on a tonga from lalkurti to Raja Bazaar paisa twenty-five..for Rs.5 u could go almost anywhere on a yellow/black taxi .In the maryan nawaz era local buses are free for one month and motorcylists get Rs2000 for one month...just in passing in the 1960's mutton was Rs.4 a kilo(nowadays Rs3000 a kilo) and naans almosts double the size of today five for paisa twenty-five(char anna)(now one naan for Rs25).earnings were also low Rs3 daily for a labourer and Rs7 daily for a mason..a cement bag Rs9...

April1-2026--kharg is a limestone gulf island 30 kilometers from iran onits northern tip...and 500km from Hormuz...it has capability to berth 8-10 large tankers simultaneously..most of iranian coastline is shallow..it has 10000 residents and has a natural water supply...wherever there is limestone...oil is not far away...it has a storage tank capacity of 20-30 million barrels...it is connected to most of its offshore and onshore oil by pipeline...Khuzestan has the most oil ...over 90% of iranian oil is exported from here...iranian oil types are Iranian heavy, Iranian light and forozan...occupying the island or bombing it out would end iranian oil exports and they would have to build a new process..iran has been exporting oil thru china despite sanctions...kharg has a capacity of 20-30million barrels and could fill 2-3 tankers daily...fighting without oil exports would be difficult..Trump would love to control irans oil exports..but is reticent from going ahead and either occupying or obliteratiing it...
