Aug26-2009--The taleban finally agreed that Baitullah was dead and appointed the orakzai chief hakimullah who led three tribal regions--(khyber and kurram as well...)as teh next taleban chief..hakimullah has led a fierce anti US campaign in the orakzai, torkham and peshawar areas creating problems along the nato routes, alongwith several high level kidnappings...teh army has been reluctant to go in strongly in only two areas ie orakzai and south waziristan...hakeemullah 28, being a junior was facing opposition from both seniors as well as waliurrehman but that opposition has apparently been settled as waliurehman has been given control of south waziristan...the new strategy of the taleban is yet to be seen whether pakistan gets ravaged alongwith teh US occupied afghanistan or the taleban start concentrating more on afghanistan...The taleban strategy which started after the lal masjid seige saw major suicide attacks inside pakistan turning the whole north west of pakistan into a sensitive troubled area causing a major army offensive in the FATA and PATA areas of nwfp...The army which has had a long relationship with the tribal areas and the taleban had to finally take off its gloves and combined with US drone attacks has brought some sanity back to the region...

Aug26-2009--Sindh which can be said to be pakistans most developed province in terms of,oil and gas deposits, jobs, education, health services and industrialisation is teh biggest complainer of the NFC award...even the two smaller provinces donot complain as much as do teh sindhis...they now want the NFC award to be based on revenue collection(which contains even basic taxation of other provinces in teh context of large corporations and countrywide organisations),backwardness, geographical factors,area and population...many say that all taxation forms should be included including those already allocated seperately to provinces in the divisible pool...things like sales taxes, royalty, oil and gas surcharges which are supposedly paid for by teh common man should not be tabulated seperately as sindh wants all solutions that should benefit it rather than every province...according to a general understanding population is the only criterion in teh constitution but several varying parameters are already enjoyed by provinces like sindh which is already getting much more than its population share...punjab has suggested that sindhs share be reduced to less than thirty per cent and nwfp and balochistan be compensated on an individual basis until their basic needs are fulfilled...

Aug26-2009--Jamil Bugti's plea to institute an FIR against musharaf for the killing of akber bugti in a Sibi session court...IG and SHO dera bugti asked to attend next court hearing...Akber Bugti died in 2006 while hiding in the bugti hills and was apparently tracked down by armies undercover sleuths or some say privately funded khojis...apparently as 30-40 soldiers approached he detonated a bomb killing himself alongwith numerous soldiers...what actually happened is generally said tobe unknown as his body was than buried by the administration without his family...

Aug26-2009--The law minister negates article 105...if a chief minister gives advice than it must be followed...the comments of the governor on judges reccommendations are not supposed to be personal...theoretically teh governor should ask the chief minister to get teh input of the police and intelligence organisations as all lawyers are neither known to teh governor or teh chief minister

Aug26-2009--PMLn says that 1992 army operation in sindh ordered by nawaz sharif against dacoits...they say that pro MQM corp commander Naseer Ahmed and altaf hussein got karachi and hyderabad included in teh operation...wanting action against 89 mqm opponents...but when mqm's actions against the army were brought into play altaf hussein left for england after a deal with general janjua saying at karachi airport that he was abandoning politics forever...general janjua than died of a suspicious heart attack some say administered thru a poison in a cup of tea..The mushraf regime literally turned karachi into a one party state literally prisoning all mqm opponents...

Aug15-2009--The government is apparently buying sugar at Rs 25 per kilo and selling it to the unwary public at Rs38...The nasty and mean industries minister refused to bring sugar rates down even in ramazan...why the government is taking a hefty 55% profit is not very clear..

Aug15-2009--american policy in the region is for pakistan to follow their orders and for india to do whatever it wants...a former ambassador to india Robert Blake the defacto secretary of state for south asia which as far as teh US and india are concerned has no pakistan...Blake has no soft spot for pakistan as is apparent from todays dawn...pakistan had better eat politics while india orders it around...people cannot be condemned without a trial as is done in india and perhaps teh USA too...it is clinton who does not want to raise teh issue of kashmir not pakistan as suggested perhaps erroneously by Blake...a country can hardly be teh highest foreign policy priority when its views and interests are totally rejected...

Aug15-2009--Mr Zardari must have a very myopic view of things ..he wants a country that cant protect its gas plants, pipelines and power pylons from being bombed to become a hub for india and china...rajasthan, gujerat and indian punjab are not very far from bombay and they really donot need pakistani ports...as far as china is concerned it would best leave its hinterland undeveloped as it is a politically volatile territoty...building pipelines is a costly business and pakistan has enough problems of its own to manage...

Aug12-2009--The governments ECC seemed to make a pathetic effort to support teh sugar price during ramazan which indicates that it might balloon further afterwards...teh governments generally anti people policies on prices and support for price hikes in teh food market have decreased its popularity considerably...Tarin has generally no knowledge of how to control prices and teh governments non interventionist frightened nature has it boxed in...they say they have a huge wheat stock of 9.749 million tons which should according to market economics reduce wheat prices...but teh government only wants to help rich farmers and not the consumers...

Jul 10-2009--In what can be said to be a mockery of both governance and teh judiciary the attorney general said that teh carbon tax was a mistake and zardari had promulgated an ordinance to reintroduce teh PDL and again raise petroleum prices within a day...The SC after listening to harsh remarks against teh government adjourned teh hearing for four weeks...in theory we now have both teh suspended carbon tax as well as a PDL...The gilani suggestion that he was unaware of teh reasoning behind teh carbon tax shows his lack of expertise in economic matters and that so called economic experts would explain the issue to the judges after their return from gallivanting in foreign countries...teh counsel said that the issue of the ordnance was malafide and repugnant as it was meant to repudiate teh judiciary...gilani on teh other hand suggested that parliament had passed teh budget without any objection...both the judiciary and teh government have taken a stance aginst parliament in the matter..SC to review petroleum prices later as lawyers said that teh PDL and whether taxes can be imposed thru an ordnance will also be challenged...
